"It all started long ago." Mystery Daughter Of The Moon began somewhat dramatically. "Before the Clans, long before the Clans. A beautiful she-cat gave birth to five lovely kittens. A grey tom was the oldest, then a golden she-cat, next a black tom, then a brown mottled she-cat, and finally a dark brown kitten. All were beautiful and handsome in their own way. But the owner of the cat did not want the kittens, so he drove for days. Eventually he reached the mountains, where he left them in a cardboard box. The kittens couldn't escape, and soon the lastborn she-kit died. Then, not too long after, a rainstorm came and destroyed the box. The kittens all wandered their separate ways."
The firstborn soon spotted a pack of wolves. Their hearts were cold against him, but one female wolf decided to take him in as one of her pups. He grew up with the name Wolf and learned their hunting and fighting styles. The golden she-cat was soon found by the foxes, and named Fox. These foxes kept her first to use as a slave to do any horrible jobs they didn't want to do, but her sly and clever mind soon earned her a respect as one of the foxes."
The brown mottled she-kit was named Adder after the snakes, whom didn't actually raise her. But she watched them in fascination and learned their hunting styles. The final tom was visited by his dead sister in a dream one night, who had named herself Bear after the great bear in the sky. She gave him unique stripes that matched those of a badger and sent him on his way. The next morn he stumbled into a badger family's camp. Right before they could kill him, the daughter of the leader defended him by saying he was her same size and looked just like her. She was a pup, but since she was the leader's daughter they listened to her and raised Badger the black tom. That badger pup became his best friend, and was named Midnight."
Eventually Fox and Wolf met up in the wood and moorland border. The two remembered each other from childhood, and soon found their other siblings. When they met together again, they were told to form groups of cats as Packs like they had been raised, by their sister Bear. They did as she told them and gathered cats with the same color pelts, same builds, and similar personalities. Wolf Pack was loyal to each other but strong fighters. Badger Pack was strong, but not at all bright, and fought whenever they could. Fox Pack was clever and sly, making false alliances with every cat. Adder Pack were quiet and often forgotten."
Soon a mysterious came about and wiped almost all of Adder Pack out. It caused cats to bleed from the inside out, and was named the Red Death. There was no cure for it. Adder Pack's two surviving cats were taken in by Fox Pack. Fox Pack never said how many cats they took in, but managed to convince the other leaders to give them both pack territory. They got twice the territory for as many cats as the other Packs, a very clever move."
When the Tribes came along, groups of cats in the Mountains, they two groups became instant friends. Four Tribes were made; Tribe Of Rushing Water, Tribe Of Pulsing Fire, Tribe Of Blustering Wind, and Tribe Of Quaking Earth. But the Tribe Of Quaking Earth soon died of a poor start. Eventually, all three remaining Packs and two of the Tribes caught the Red Death and were destroyed. Only the Tribe Of Rushing Water still stands today." Mystery Daughter Of The Moon finished the tale with a smile.
