Gaara waited aprehensively as Birdie just stared at him with those perfect, enticing eyes. Finally she spoke, and her words sent a thrill through Gaara that he had never felt before. Here was a cat that knew he had murdered, had hated, had been that awful cat Gaara never wanted to be again, and here was the cat that he loved more than his own self. Here she was... and she loved him too. He was almost too happy to speak, and no words would come, so he just purred and pressed his muzzle to Birdie's neck gently, taking in her sweet scent and reveling in her intoxicating presence.

Birdie was too surprised and happy and lost at the same time to comprehend it all. With a vibrant smile she felt Gaara nuzzle her, and she returned the loving gesture. She had a love that was real, true, and perfect. It was almost unbelievably perfect. But reality checked in and eventually Birdie had to admit that they should be getting back. The sky began to get lighter. "Let's hurry back before Longan panics." She said, wishing Gaara would refuse to leave ad keep her there forever.

Gaara nodded reluctantly.
"Yeah, you're right." He sighed. He got to his paws and nodded once more, as if reassuring himself, then padded back around the alley towards his den. He stood beside the entrance and waited paitently for Birdie to enter.

Birdie nodded, slipping past Gaara and yawning as she lay down on her bed. Longan stirred a bit but did not get up, probably still very tired from the previous day and night. Birdie was grateful even more a brief moment's sleep after being up most of the night.

Gaara was relieved to find that Longan was asleep when he crept into his nest. He curled up and closed his eyes, resting his muzzle on his forepaws. He no longer felt nervous or edgy, but content and happy. He drifted into a peaceful slumber, his thoughts wrapped up in Birdie and Longan and open moors and happy days... untainted by revenge-seeking kin and murders and blood and death and mysterious prophecies that threatened the fabric of Gaara's newly spun life.

Longan stirred, slowly waking up. He stood, stretching, and looking at his two sleeping friends. "Huh. Sleepy-heads, wakey-wakey!" He said, nudging the two cats happily, eager to set off for a great new day. The tom was eager to get going, and the cats were too drowsy to wake!

Gaara grumbled but woke without much trouble. He blinked at Longan and smiled.
"Yeah, yeah, we're comin'." He meowed.

Birdie stood, stretching and smiling. She yawned but then blinked sleep from her eyes and purred. "Where to, young 'un?" She asked with a purr, casting a very lovesick glance at Gaara and smiling vividly.

Gaara yawned widely.
"Yeah, where could we possibly go?" He murmured, although there were so many places in reality that he doubted it would be hard to come up with one.

"How about... I don't actually know..." Longan said, shrugging. Like it mattered, as long as he could go somewhere. That would be fun, somewhere. He was too tired to really care at this point.

Gaara sighed.
"Well, there's lots of nice places to visit, but you're goanna have to get me some sort of idea." He meowed, stretching as well as he could in the semi-tight space they were enclosed in.

Longan nodded, but could not come up with anything. Birdie smiled, an idea quickly coming to her. "How about we go to a quiet place? Where Longan can run?" Longan smiled, nodding eagerly and bouncing up and down.

Gaara closed his eyes and thought deeply.
"Let's see... I know a few places, especially this place with this nice warm stone... but I've scented a few strange things lately around there." He meowed thoughtfully. Nothing too strange... just like clan scent only... muddled and confused a bit.

Birdie nodded. "Well, wherever you feel is safe." She said, completely trusting the tom. And her mate. After all, what was a mate but one you loved with all your heart? Smiling, Birdie felt a warm burning at the thought of love.

Gaara thought about it for a second.
"Hmm, it shouldn't be too dangerous. And I do like it there. Why don't we give it a try?" He asked.

Longan nodded. "Let's go!" He bounded out of the den, followed by an amused Birdie. Stopping, he looked back at Gaara. "Where exactly is this place?" He inquired with a embarrassed grin.

Gaara smiled at his enthusiasm as he emerged into the cool morning.
"You're headed in the right direction. We'll be walking along the ThunderClan border a ways and then we'll cut across the moors." He meowed.

Longan nodded, he'd lived by ThunderClan before and knew some ThunderClan cats. He'd be fine with being in the forest. "Let's go!" Birdie purred, falling in step with Gaara was they traveled.

Gaara nodded and continued on his way. He loved the forest as much as he could, and as the scents of mice and of a few ThunderClanners hit his nose he relaxed somewhat. The memory of a certain cat lingered in his thoughts, and he almost thought he could smell her scent on the breeze... Wait! That is her scent!"

[[Mwahahahaha... Let them meet now, please! Maybe Ash and Fire are hunting together... <3]]
Longan felt a strange, as if his paws were pulling him deep into ThunderClan territory. He felt happy here, and followed several tail-lengths behind Gaara and Birdie.
