Gaara opened his mouth and lifted his paw, as if to take a step forward, but then closed his jaw and set his paw on the grass. He stared at Birdie with his intensely turqoise eyes.
"I suppose no one is truly born to kill. It is circumstances... how one is raised and certain... situations that cause us to fall." He said, staring off into the distance. Finally he turned and looked at Birdie intently.
"Though I must say I have never been compared to another cat before. I am asuming these memories are not happy ones." His mouth turned downward. He had never been someone to appreciate, someone to like. But he wanted to be. Gaara ached for the care of another, a chance to prove he was not a weapon, but a cat like any other. I just want to be accepted... to be normal. He thought sadly.

"My past was never happy. Death and blood, hatred. Cats for the night, lovers until the dawn. Nothing more. I had to kill him..." She admitted, growing ever-softer. She hated remembering his fake smile, that false sense of comfort. He hadn't wanted her, only the things her twolegs gave her. He was a horrible, lying cat who had deserved to die. But Birdie still felt horrified at the thought...

Gaara stared intently into her face, and then turned away to stare into the horizon again.
"Sometimes those you love... those who mean the most to you and you thought were special to you... they are liars and mean not what they say. Sometimes the only thing you can do is end their lives or pray that someone else will do it for you. For if you do not they will destroy all you hold dear..." He meowed, his expression dark. Suddenly he smiled brightly, and that changed his entire face, making him seem so much more handsome.
"But the past is the past. If it weren't I wouldn't be here." He meowed.

Birdie looked at Gaara in surprise. "How... deep. That is truly amazing. How'd you get so smart?" Birdie purred in amusement, flicking her tail. She had to end his life, for if she hadn't he would have ended hers. And where would she be then? Dead. Laughing to herself, Birdie nodded. "I wish my past was better though. Haunting memories and all. You know, you're the first cat I can somewhat relate to." She realized with a smile, and a friendly nod. "I am in your debt."

OOC: Ah, there're so cute together! XD
Gaara smiled.
"Nah, don't mention it. And thanks, I got my smarts from my mom." He meowed, nodding with a slightly less happy look on his face, "And as far as relating... I've come across few that understood. I guess in a way you do. That's nice. It feels... good to know someone feels regret the way I do. Perhaps we could learn to put the past behind us together?" He suggested, smiling. But what would she do if she knew? If she knew that I'd killed so many...?

Birdie nodded. "Hey, look. My past!" She joked as she looked over her shoulder. With a purr she looked back at Gaara. "It's behind me. What about you?" She nodded with a wink, looking over at Longan who was spinning circles without much attention to the two cats.

Gaara smiled slightly.
"It's a bit harder for me. But hey, I've done well so far!" He said, grinning widely so that his teeth were visible. The tips were still somewhat stained with blood, but otherwise they were perfectly white. He knew that they'd go back to fully white soon... As soon as time passes after Runningsoul's... murder... He thought, sighing.

[[Do we even need to introduce Foalan? Because he and Birdie are too cute!]]
"Trust me, if I could put mine behind me that quick I'd be pretty well off." She meowed with a sigh. She wondered if she would ever put him behind her. She had loved him, he had betrayed her, and she had killed him. Three things she had never wanted for herself or anyone. But love wasn't so bad, betrayal was, and murder was the worst. Looking at his teeth, she saw blood stained. She wondered if it was cat blood. If it was, it made him that much more like her.

OOC: I agree!
Gaara closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then reopened them.
"Yeah. Well, it helps when someone's willing to put their faith in you. Doesn't help when you betray them, though..." He muttered, his eyes filled with sorrow. Why had he killed Runningsoul and hurt Ashfire? He shook his head and smiled crookedly.
"But hey. If it makes you a better cat, it does, right?" He meowed, turning his attention to Longan.

Birdie smiled with a nod. "I've betrayed my fair share." She caught Gaara's gaze, her heart stopping. His eyes had seemed to wrench her. Just like his in color, only gentler... Less vicious and cruel. Not the eyes of a liar, but a faithful friend.

Gaara caught her looking at him and turned. He met her gaze and felt his heartbeat speed up. She's so beautiful... He thought, but he instantly began blushing to the roots of his fur. He laughed nervously and accidently stumbled on his own paws as he turned to take a step.
"Oops! Hehe, clumsy me." He said, rolling his eyes at himself.

Birdie blushed, suddenly realizing that she was wishing he had stumbled into her. She purred, smiling and rolling her eyes as well. "You sure can dance!" She teased playfully with a purr. Suddenly Longan stopped running, flopping over and panting heavily. Birdie shook her head as Longan quickly drifted into sleep. Crazy kit.

Gaara smiled and then turned to Longan. He laughed and nudged the tom with his forepaw.
"Hey lazypaws, I thought you wanted to run forever. Let's go get something to drink at the stream and then you can have a rest." He meowed with a soft laugh. He turned and looked intently at Birdie.
"Care to join us?" He asked.

"Sure." Birdie meowed, standing and stretching. Longan shot up, realizing his mistake. "I'm going to be fat!" He cried, bouncing up and down, eager to follow Gaara.

Gaara laughed.
"You'll be fine as long as you keep active and don't kill yourself in the process. Besides, taking away a tom's right to have kits doesn't have anything to do with wieght. It's all pyschological." he meowed, tapping Longan's head with his tail tip.

Birdie gasped, shocked. "Is that what happened?" She asked, realizing that was why Longan was gone. He had gone to the cutters! Longan nodded, sighing and slowing his pace.

Gaara frowned.
"Oh yeah, you didn't know that..." He meowed thoughtfully. He sighed and shook his head.
"Sorry, Longan, from now on mum's the word!" He meowed with a nod.

Longan shrugged and then smiled. "Water?" He asked with a cute smile. Birdie sighed, nodding. She cast a glance at Gaara, feeling her heart speed up a bit. Why was Gaara so much like him?

Gaara nodded and padded towards the stream.
"Let's go, then." He meowed, trotting off. He felt so whole with his family around him.
"You know..." He frowned, surprised by the thought of these cats as his family, "I'm not used to having... friends. It's... a nice feeling." He mewed, looking at them and smiling genuinely.

"It is. Real friends, I mean." Birdie added, nodding. He had never been areal friend. But he was behind her. Longan smiled and bounded eagerly next to Gaara, happy to have friends around him too. He had two of the greatest cats ever hanging with him, and that was just alright.
