Cookie chased after him. Leaping gracefully from rock to rock she caught up to Sighingwind. "Are we going in?" she asked.

Sighingwind started and turned to her, his amber eyes flickering sligthly even in the shadows of the canyon.
"You don't have to if you don't want to." He meowed.

Sighingwind nodded and stepped into the shadows of the cave. He kept his side pressed against the wall, walking unseeingly into the darkness. What's this feeling I'm getting? He asked himself, staring earnestly into the tunnels for any signs of a change. He could feel other passageways winding away from him on the opposite side, but somehow he knew the only way he could go was straight. Suddenly a cold blue light met his eyes, and he padded forward into a cavern with a large, glowing stone in its center...

Cookie padded after him. She lost his scent amongst the dampness of the cave. She slipped down a winding cavern into the shadows. "Sighingwind" she called "where are you?" She blinked to try to adjust her eyes, but it didn't work. She was lost.

Sighingwind heard an echoing voice from behind him, but he never moved his eyes from the stone.
"I'm down here, Cookie. Just go straight." He yowled. He tentively took a few steps forward. He could hear voices whispering to him to touch his nose to the stone and sleep. Sighingwind knelt beside it and gently touched its surface. He felt a chill run up his spine, then he fell into a peaceful sleep.
"Sighingwind..."[/i] A voice whispered. He pricked his ears.
"Who's there?" He inquired, stepping forward into the unknown forest.
"I am your mother, Sighingwind."[/i] A voice soft spoke behind him. Sighingwind turned, his eyes wide. He saw a slim she-cat standing beside him, her eyes brilliant but sad.
"But y-you're... that cat!" He exclaimed.
"The Medicine Cat of the Clan you were born to, my son. It was against all laws for me to have kits, but I fell in love and gave birth to you two alone in the woods."[/i] Sighingwind's pelt tingled.
"Is... is Wolf still alive? Is he well?" He asked hesitantly. His mother's eyes softened.
Your brother walks beneath my skies, my son. He is a Warrior of RiverClan, your birth Clan."[/i] She meowed. The ones that threw us out... Sighingwind thought bitterly.
"Do not regret the past, my son. You are destined to be of the forest. Of the Clans. Don't deny your destiny, son. I have called you hear to tell you this."[/i] She meowed. Sighingwind turned away.
"Those "Clans"... I remember them now. It was all such a blurr. They didn't want us... they didn't give us the time of day. They decided we were for the foxes, and threw us out. Every one of them." She hissed angrily.
"That was because it was a hard time, Sighingwind. Forgive them, my son. Please find it in your good heart to forgive them."[/i] Her voice began to fade away. Sighingwind turned and saw her form was vanishing before his eyes.
"No... don't leave me again!" He cried.
"I must, my son. Farewell."[/i] She meowed.

Cookie walked straight but hit a stone wall. "I can't find you" she called. She felt alone and lost. "Sighingwind help" she called.

Sighingwind blinked open his eyes just in time to hear Cookie's entreaty. He turned and slipped into the tunnel, in somewhat of a daze from his strange dreams. He heard her voice from one of the connecting tunnels, and he made sure to claw the ground roughly as he made his way, leaving indents in the stone beneath him.
"I'm coming Cookie. Just stay where you are, and keep talking to me, Ok?" He meowed, inching forward pawstep by pawstep.

Cookie felt relieved. "Ok" she answered "i'm over here." She sat down on the hard floor and waited for Sighingwind.

He heard her and padded on towards her voice, careful to scratch deep rifts in the earth beneath him. He could scent her amid all the dark musty scents ahead, and suddenly he bumped into something soft and warm.
"Ah, there you are." He meowed, pricking his ears and trying to distinguish her from among the darkness around her.

Sighingwind paused, turning around and placing his pads on the scarred cave floor.
"... A place that brought back a lot of memories." He meowed gravely. Not all of them pleasant. He added silently.

Cookie smiled. "Where are we going to sleep tonight?" she asked. She carefully padded after Sighingwind trying not to be separated again.

Sighingwind made sure he could feel Cookie's whiskers brushing his tailtip as he climbed forward through the tunnels.
"Well, we can either sleep..." His voice trailed off and he turned his face towards the strange chamber.
"Outside or in the cave."

"Alright, follow me." Sighingwind meowed, turning into the tunnel that led to the strange stone. He felt his fur tingle as his pawsteps echoed in the caverns, and the voices whispered softly to him again. He didn't know why they persisted in speaking to him, but he felt it reassuring, nonetheless.

Cookie followed him into the cavern. The glittering stone was beautiful. She padded up to it and closely examined it, it was so different from the stones she had seen before.

Sighingwind sat down beside the stone, feeling his mother's presence lingering around him. Her sweet scent engulfed him, and a sort of peace filled his heart as he stared through the gap in the roof. tThe moon was so beautiful among the star-strewn heavens. He felt tired, so he laid down, tucking his paws into his chest and closing his eyes as he listened to the wind moaning softly outside.
