Hattie sat down and allowed her newborn kits to suckle, sighing and stroking them delicately. She was alone without her twolegs or her mate, but she couldn't do much more than sit and wait. She noticed the younger she-cat pad over to her and sit down, her blue eyes dulled and faded, milky with blindness. Ivy and Hattie sat next to each other in silence, waiting.
-
Birdie felt herself twitch as she watched her daughter preform a perfect stalk technique. She wished Gaara were here to take her on, as Essence was so strange and beginning to be somewhat mystical. It scared poor Birdie to think that Gaara may have been right - and her kits may have been set on a path of destiny to save the forest.

OOC: Who Rp's Millie?
BIC: Barley yawned widely and twitched his ear, looking at Okkurein.
"You know stories, right? Have any you can tell me?" He pleaded. She blinked and then looked down at her paws.
"Well, Ok. There were once three kits who lived in the forest, and they were the closest of siblings. The biggest kit's name was Warrior, and he was brave and true, with a heart of gold and wisdom to match it. The second kit was a beautiful she-kit named Lala, who was gentle and kind and wished for nothing but happiness towards her brother and younger sister. This sister, the youngest of the litter, was named... Weeping. She was very special, and was destined for many things, and her mother hated her for it. Their father left them shortly after they were born. In fact, they never even knew him. He didn't stay to see their eyes open. The kits grew up under the cruel paw of their mother. She hurt them when they did wrong things, and forced them to eat very little scraps, not caring whether they lived or died. She favored only Lala above all the others, because Weeping was different and Warrior looked like their father. But one day she became outraged at Weeping and tried to kill her. Lala threw herself in the way, taking the lethal blow and begging her sister and brother to flee. The two kits left her, knowing she must be dead. Weeping and Warrior were found by a pair of cats from a distant relation of theirs. Mourningwraith and her mate, Foxfire. They raised the kits, protected them, but then the kit's vengeful mother found them out. She killed Warrior, despite the efforts of a ThunderClan apprentice to save him. And her brother murdered Mourningwraith and Foxfire. He tossed Weeping into a river, never to be seen again." Okkurein meowed softly, sadly. Barley's ear twitched.
"That's... that's really sad. Poor kits." He murmured, his whiskers drooping.

Essence heard her mother's thoughts and paused, looking over her shoulder. She straightened stiffly and her eyes narrowed.
"Most mothers are proud of their kits." She meowed in a low voice, her speckled gaze peircing. Then she turned away.
"But I guess that's too much to ask." She yawned widely and sat with her tail twitching. She heard Gaara's gloomy thoughts before she smelled him. He emerged from the forest and smiled at his mate and kit.
"Hey, sorry I'm home late." He meowed, dropping two mice and a sparrow before them.
"Eat up. You'll need your strength for the hunt." He mewed.
"Won't we need to be able to eat those prey we catch?" Essence asked curiously.
"Yes, but I won't eat now so I'll probably devour most of it, if you catch any." Gaara meowed, yawning.

[[Me]]
Hattie sighed and shook her head. "Don't fill a kit's head with sorrow. I know mine was and look where I am now. Hated by my twolegs, alone and without my mate. In some dump, too. You have to have faith, young tom. The world ain't as bad as this one claims it be." Hattie said with a soft sigh. Her life was most definitely terrible. Her mother abandoned her, lied about her, hated her. Now her twolegs had attempted to take away her kits and she was left on the street. Her mate was nowhere to be found, and she'd about given up hope on a good life again.
-
Birdie smiled at her mate. He did seem a little exhausted, and she wondered if he'd train with the kits or just rest.

Okkurein looked at Barley and smiled.
"She's right. Not all sad stories have sad endings. After all, Weeping did survive." She mewed. Barley's eyes widened.
"Really?"
"Yes. And she lived in RiverClan for a few moons, before she left to find her destiny. I'm pretty sure she still lives." The she-cat said, smiling. Barley nodded.
"That makes me feel better." He said. Okkurein smiled.
"Yeah, me too."
_________________________________________________________
Gaara yawned widely, when that strange voice entered his head again.
Birdie doesn't want to train Essence. Perhaps you should take her out? Otherwise it wouldn't be fun, or helpful. He nodded. 'That's probably a good idea. I wonder why Birdie doesn't like our daughter?' He wondered a little sadly.
It's because she's Chosen. Her presence unnerves Birdie. The voice replied. 'Oh, I see. I wonder what ability little Essence has?' He pondered.
I think you probably shouldn't try to find out. The voice said grimly. Gaara looked at his mate and smiled.
"So how about I take Essence and you can take Heron and Fell? Or I could take two and you just one. Doesn't matter." He meowed, smiling. Essence looked up at him and blinked slowly, then turned away.
Thanks. The voice said. 'Uh, no problem...' Gaara thought back, a bit mystified.

Hattie purred and sighed, beginning to wonder what this kitten knew about this Weeping. She smiled as she stroked her kits and wondered where Millie might be. She didn't usually stay that late, but then again she wasn't much of a hunter. She had hardly caught three mice in her lifespan thus far, but Hattie didn't mind. Any help was greatly appreciated. "She should be back soon."
-
Birdie smiled at her mate. "Can you also take Startled Heron? I know it's a burden, but..." She sighed and looked away. One-on-one time with the son she dreamed of having would be nice. It'd make turning him into the dream Fell easier, and she knew that she wanted an easy job. Then again, part of her had always wanted the real Fell home...

"Sure." Gaara meowed, smiling. Essence sat beside him, glad of a chance to get away from her mother's dark thoughts and return to her father's much more cheerful ones. Despite his odd and tragic past, Essence often enjoyed his bright outlook of the future. He knew what she and her littermates would become, but he looked forward to it. She liked that.

Barley yawned.
"I sure hope so." He meowed sleepily, curling up and tucking his paws beneath his chest. Okkurein looked down at him and smiled gently.
"Tired, are you?" She purred.
"Only a little." He sighed.

Birdie nodded and Fell followed her off to do some battle training. Startled Heron looked sadly up at her father. "I love her but she hates me." She said in despair, her soft kitlike voice filled with pain and unhappiness.
-
Hattie watched as Millie slipped into the makeshift den with a single sparrow in her jaws. She set it by her friend and smiled in a friendly fashion at the newcomers. "Hello, visitors. How may I help?"

Essence frowned at her sister, feeling her pain but not wanting to. She was glad enough to be able to see clearly her mother's disdain and know what fueled it. Poor Startled Heron didn't even understand. Why is our mother so cruel? Why does she hate us? Essence thought. Because she fears father's words. She fears what we will become. She thinks we are strange. We're not special like Fell. Essence thought bitterly.
"She doesn't hate you, Heron. And just for the record I love you." He purred, nuzzling his kit. But Essence knew it was a half-hearted purr, a half-hearted sentiment. He knew he was lying.
_____
Barley's ears pricked forward and Okkurein shifted a little.
"We were wondering..." She began, but Barley cut her off.
"Do you know where Birdie is? Can you take us to her please, please, please, please?" He asked, his eyes huge and pleading and his tail twitching energetically. Okkurein sighed but said nothing.

[[Bummer, poor Heron. xD Actually, Birdie hates the others because Essence is strange and Startled Heron reminds her of one of her other daughters whom she accidentally killed. But she thinks she can make Fell great like the old Fell... o.O]]
Startled Heron smiled and nuzzled her father back. It may have only partly made up for her mother's lack of care, but at least it was something. She looked at Essence and realized that Birdie seemed to only care for Fell. Was it because he was the only boy? Did she like boys better? Did she like him for his fur patterns or his eyes that were like Gaara's? Startled Heron sighed and wondered.
-
"Birdie? I'm afraid I don't. But I know who does, young 'uns. If you stay here I can go ask her for you." Millie offered with a sweet smile that lit up the room. Ivy may not have been able to see the vivid smile, but she felt its happy, lighthearted presence and sighed softly.

OOC: Well... that's just sad -.- lol.
BIC: Essence couldn't hear her sister's thoughts. It was a bit frustrating, but she certainly knew why. She understood a lot about the Chosen, from the dreams of her father and the Healers of his Clan, when it had once been great and powerful. Essence nodded her head.
"Can we go now, father, please?" She asked, looking up at him.
"Of course. Let's get!" Gaara said, smiling and purring affectionately.

"That would be wonderful, thanks!" Barley exclaimed. Okkurein sensed he was just excited - a bit too excited for the severity of what they were seeking. But she didn't mind so much.

[[Honestly, Birdie's about to go crazy anyway. x.x ]]
Startled Heron bounded along, wondering where they were going and what they would do now.
-
Millie smiled then and nodded to the group. "Be back soon." She said, turning and bolting away off to seek the only cat that seemed to keep in touch with Birdie. But she had certainly vanished and been gone awhile. Hattie smiled and stroked her kits softly. "Haven't seen a cat named Smudge, have you?" She asked hopefully.

Barley turned and blinked at Hattie, thinking. He shook his head and turned to Okkurein, but she blinked and shrugged.
"If I have I must have forgotten him. I'm sorry." She meowed softly. There was something in her eyes that made Barley somewhat nervous.
_____
Gaara led his daughters through a patch of trees clustered at the edge of Twolegplace. It was somewhat distanced from Clan territory - he had mentioned to his kits that it was dangerous to go there, or so he thought he had. But even if he'd forgotten it didn't matter. Essence knew anyway.
"So. Today we will be hunting in this somewhat small woods. Mice will probably be the most common catch of the day. Can either of you tell me-"
"Hear." Essence meowed, yawning. Gaara looked at her.
"What?"
"They can hear you. The mice. That's what you were going to say, right?" She said, looking bored. Gaara frowned a bit.
"Well, yes... I suppose I must have told you... or your mother. Very well then. I will show you..." Essence yawned and slunk forward in a perfect mouse-stalking technique. She prowled off into the bushes and then poked her head from behind a nearby tree. Gaara looked at her and shook his head.
"Did your mother teach you that?" He asked.
"No. I learned by myself." With some help from your memories. Essence smiled at him. He nodded.
"Well, good job anyway. Heron." He meowed, turning to his daughter and smiling.
"Why don't you give it a try? Just like this..." He meowed, crouching and showing her how to place her paws.

[[Clumsypaws. xP ]]
Startled Heron tried to mimic her father but teetered to one side and landed on her right flank in a heap. She shook herself, standing and looking sadly at her father. "I can't do anything right." She muttered under her breath. I'm not anybody's favorite. Dad loves that Essence is perfect, and mom loves Fell. Startled Heron thought sadly. I'm alone.
-
Hattie sighed softly and shook her head. "Figures. Nobody's seen him. My mate, their father." She stroked her kits lovingly with her tail. "And now we're separated and we can't find our way home." She spoke slowly, sorrow heavy and clinging to her voice. Her eyes glinted sadly as she thought about the life she had left.

Okkurein's eyes filled with compassion and she wished she could help the she-cat.
"I will keep a lookout for him." She meowed, dipping her head. Twolegs seemed to rip families of Kittypets apart so often. It was sad, really.
___
Gaara smiled encouragingly at his daughter.
"Don't worry Heron. I didn't get it on my first try either. It takes practice. You're doing just fine, sweetie." He meowed, nuzzling her affectionately.
OOC: Actually I don't think Gaara has a preference... lol.

Startled Heron nodded and tried to smile, but her eyes glittered with pain. Suddenly, a shrill cry shook the forest. It sounded like a cry for help. And it sounded like Birdie. A few moments later, Fell stumbled rather quickly through the undergrowth, his eyes faintly tainted with a red that faded quickly. He gasped for air, having run like lightning - an amazing feat for any cat. "Dad, come help!" He cried as he choked for air.
-
Hattie sighed and looked up at the she-cat with a soft smile. "My twolegs took me to the cutter and locked me in a cage. They called it an.... abortion, I think. When they opened the cage I managed to bite one of the cutters and ran for it." She said as she looked down at her kits. At least they were safe.

Okkurein frowned slightly.
"Oh, that's... I'm sorry. That must have been hard. At least your kits are well now, though. They are very beautiful." She said gently.
____
Gaara started, his eyes widening.
"What? Alright, lead the way!" He meowed, deciding it was best not to ask too many questions. Essence was frustrated that she couldn't read her brother's thoughts. But she probably wouldn't have time to recede into her inner-state anyway.

[[Sorry, Millie got caught in another thread. >.<]]
Hattie smiled and nodded, suddenly catching the whiff of another cat. It was a familiar scent, and she knew for a fact that she would know where to find Birdie. Millie had been gone a long time. "Livvi?" Hattie called with a smile. "Hattie, do you need something?" A cute grey head popped into the bin, and Livvi saw the guests. "Hello, I'm Livvi." "Livvi, can you take these guys to Birdie?" "Actually, I just saw her training her with her kits not too long ago. If you'd follow me?" Livvi smiled at the other cats and quickly turned, padding off without checking to see if the strangers followed.
-
Fell ran as fast as he could, guilt gnawing at his innards as he ran. Eventually he reached his mother and froze. "Get away from me you little monster!" She screamed and kicked, half crazed and half delusional. Blood poured down her face and sides, strangely perfect cuts and all seeping massive amounts of blood. She suddenly fell unconscious and her son looked up at Gaara. "What do we do?" He asked in a panic.

Gaara stared down at his son, his eyes wide.
"I..." He stammered. The Bloodlust... He thought, staring down at his mate. He knelt beside her, licking her wounds pitifully.
"It's Ok, Birdie, I'm here." He choked, feeling emotion overwhelm him. Essence sat staring with huge eyes. What happened...? She closed her eyes and searched her mother's memories, but shied as soon as she found out. She shrank back from her brother, feeling her heart beat wildly in her chest.
"How could that be...?' She asked in a terrified whisper.
___________________________
Barley sprinted after the she-cat, but he started as soon as he smelt blood. What could that be? He wondered. He saw Okkurein's stride lengthen, and he followed. They sped into the clearing and stopped, slack-jawed, as they saw a family of cats gathered around a bloodied she-cat.
"Wha...?" He breathed. He felt Okkurein's paw slam on his flank.
"Hurry!" She hissed.
"But..." He stammered.
"GO!" She growled. He slunk forward and sidled up to the she-cat. The orange tabby tom growled at him, but he stuck out a paw and touched the she-cat's wounds. A soft green glow appeared from his pads and then the wounds were gone - though blood still stained her pelt. He slunk back to Okkurein and ducked behind her. The orange tabby's fur was fluffed up and he stared at them intensely.
"You... you're my sister's...?" He frowned.
"Yes." Okkurein said calmly.
"I thought you'd died." He said thoughtfully. Okkurein frowned.
"Could have. But it takes more than a river to do me in." She snarled.
"Apparently." He mused.

Livvi watched as the cats sped past her, turning and walking the way they had come. They could handle themselves now and take it from here.
-
Ivy scented blood and stumbled up to the family, blinking her dead blue eyes and scenting slowly the thick blood. Her brother lurched forward and she listened but could hardly tell what he was doing. Suddenly, she heard a muffled voice speak. "Wh-wh-wha happed?" A weak she-cat spoke, obviously in pain. Or at least dazed. She must be the injured one. Ivy sighed and sat down, moving a few pebbles up and down as she waited for something to happen. She had never realized it, but whenever she sat and waited something small and insignificant nearby moved up and down a little bit. Her mind was just playing games and entertaining itself.
