Speckledtail smiled as she approached the new she-cat. Obviously she and Duskgaze were together. Like she and... She sighed.
"Welcome, newcomer." She said with a friendly grin, but her eyes were emotionless and her voice was monotone. The smile was obviously fake.
"My name is Speckledtail." She said, her smile fading almost instantly.

"nice to meet you Athena." Speckledtail meowed in a less-than-friendly voice. She sat down, grooming her paw thoughtlessly. Obviously Athena was a Queen. The scent was hard to hide. It was one thing Speckledtail and Athena had in common. They were Queens.

[Athena dosen't know she's a queen yet. Sometimes she can be SO air headed!]
"Nice to meet you too." she meowed. Athena moved closer to Duskgaze. She twined her tail around his. The she-cat, Speckledtail, looked like she was expecting kits. Athena wanted kits, but she didn't know anything about them. She couldn't even tell if she was bearing kits or not. 'I'm probably not.' Athena thought. 'Duskgaze and I just met each other...'

Speckledtail nodded.
"So, are you staying with us?" She asked with a small tinge of an emotion that was hard to read. It was a mix of joy, worry, and deep fear. But mostly it was just nothingness. Blank, empty nothingness.

"I guess so." she said without much confidence. Athena staraed down at her paws. 'I won't be staying if things go badly though.' she thought to herself. 'If that happens, then I'm going to True Clan.'

"Then let me show you to the Nursery, if you'd like." Speckledtail said with a smile, though it was entirely emotionless. She stroked her stomach with her tailtip, wondering if she should tell anyone yet.

"Oh." Athena said quickly. "Dose Duskgaze know?" she asked. 'How could I have been so stupid.' she thought. 'My poor kits.' Athena padded after Speckledtail to the nursery.

"Obviously not." Speckledtail said as she slipped into the Nursery. She sat down in one set of bedding.
"So Duskgaze would be the father?" She said carelessly. "This is my nest. I'll find an apprentice to bring you some moss." She said, turning and poking her head out of the den.
"Tropicana?" She called, her voice empty.

Duskgaze watched as Athena met more cats. His dark gaze was riddled with boredom. He watched as Athena was led away, he shrugged.

Time Jump: 1 1/2 week later
Athena lay on her side in the nursery, alone. Pain ripped throgh her boddy as the first kit was born. She pulled the kit close to her with her tail. "The kits are comeing, NOW!" she hissed as loud as her throught would let her. Pain soared through Athena's body agian as the second kit was born. The she-cat gulped. Pain, once more occoured, and the thrid kit was born. Athena thought her labor was over untill a duller pain shot through the she-cat's body. The fourth kit was then born, and Athena lay on her side, in the nusery, alone...for now.

Duskgaze rushed into the nursery. He found his mate and kits.Kits? he thought. He quickly licked the kits until their heart beat. He pushed them to his side. "They're beautiful" he mewed, licking her ear.

Speckledtail looked up and sighed. She didn't want to have her kits, either. But now everyone knew. She remembered talking to Claudius, but it hadn't been good. He was so jumpy. It made her laugh.
"Yep. I'm having kits."
"Whose?" Shadow had asked happily. He was a kind-hearted tom, and how he had wound up there was a mystery.
"Claudius'." She had said. And the stare Claudius had given her had nearly frozen her heart.
"Mine?" He had said in alarm. But Speckledtail's gaze reminded him and he had leaned up to her.
"Don't."
"You're helping me." And then he had left. Even more terrified than before. She couldn't figure out why, though. He had just been afraid.

"I know." she meowed. They kits were beautiful, or was that what every mother thought? Athena didn't care. "We have to give them names, you know. We can't just call them kit 1, 2, 3, and 4."
