Duskgaze broke his cold gaze to face Athena. "I love you" he whispered "and of course I like kits, especially if they're ours."

Scab yawned. He looked at Conda and saw her ear flick in irritation. Some said she was like Whisper, their leader. But they were quite wrong. Whisper had no emotions, or at least was used to not expressing them. Conda worked hard to remain calm to hide the suffering, not the faults in her character. He sometimes wondered at how she remained so calm.
"Of course. I can see my warnings have gone unheeded." She murmured.

Athena glanced at Conda. She didn't belive a word of the warnings that came out of her mouth. She whispered to Duskgaze, "Do you want kits?" Hopfully no one heard except for Duskgaze.

Duskgaze simply nodded in response. "We don't need your warnings" he snapped. "We'll be fine" he mewed "i'm sure of it."

Athena stared off into the distance. 'Maybe one of our kits will have eyes like Duskgaze's,' she thought. 'and maybe we'll have a pure white she cat.' She rubed her head on Duskgaze's shoulder, then licked his ear.

Duskgaze purred. He nuzzled her affectionately. He looked at her face, he could tell kits were on her mind. "We'll have kits soon" he whispered.

Athena smiled. "Where will the kits stay? I'm a loner, and you're a clan cat. We still don't know if your leader will let me stay in this clan. The kits would need a mother and a father together!" she meowed smoothly.

"If you can;t stay, I will live as a loner" he mewed. "Or we could always go to TrueClan" he said in a hushed voice. He'd be killed if they heard him mention them,

"What's that?" she asked in a hushed tone. She figured it wasn't the best to talk about since he said it in a hushed tone.

Claudius felt uneasy. He always felt uneasy. But this kind of unease was different. It wasn't the fear of the return of his sister, nor the fear of what she would do to him if she found out he might want to stay. Not the fear of being ratted out for whatever reason and thrown off into the wild on his own, not the fear or reuniting with his sister after that and being taunted. No, this fear was different. Brewing inside him, the words that Speckledtail had told him the other day. Or was it two days ago? He could hardly remember anymore. But whatever it was, it wasn't good. She had wanted his help, and he'd agreed without question. That was what worried him. But he had a right to worry, he just didn't know why. He sighed as he noticed some cats talking about something or other. He stayed far enough away not to be noticed, but close enough to hear. Something...

Chaos sat perched on one of the few sunning rocks in the camp, her eyes half closed and her tail waving languidly. She blinked open her pale hazel eyes and gave her silken, brown-streaked fur a gentle lick before uncurling herself from the rock. She stood on it, digging into it with her claws as she examined the camp. She noticed the small group of cats - her own squad member, Anaconda, was among them but she seemed upset. Scavenger was there, trying to make things calm, it seemed. She eyed the two obvious-lovers and a flame burned within her chest. Traitors... that's what they are. But soon they will perish, if they have the idiocy to stay here. She thought, curling her lip. They disgusted her. Weak, pitiful fools that would turn on their Clan with no ounce of loyalty if the going got rough. Chaos hated them. She hated them like she hated the stupid, worthless kit she had dumped on one of the queens in the camp. She had no idea why she hadn't just killed the thing. But maybe it would be worth something some day. Now all she had to do was keep it away from her brother and that useless mate of his.
"Mmm... everything is falling into place." Chaos purred a little, deciding to allow a few moments of pleasure at her success in riding ThunderClan of their medicine cats, and RiverClan of their precious leader. New, hot blood led the Clans now. She had eyes and ears in high places. She knew of this Wolfstar that had risen from Stormstar's ashes. And I know he's after me. She thought with a delicious, sinister smile. She turned to see Anaconda approaching, her head low.
"Captain." She mewed, sitting down beside the rock.
"What can I help you with, Conda?" Chaos asked, laying back down on the rock and turning to this cat she knew little about. But when Chaos looked at Anaconda, she knew somehow everything that was going on in that cat's mind. Maybe it was their similarities. The way their ears both twitched when they were nervous, the way when she was sad, though she tried to hide it, her shoulders would sag a little. Chaos knew what she had come for. Comfort. But the evil she-cat had no idea how she would give it.
"What is more important, do you think... loyalty or love?" She asked, turning to Chaos with bright, curious eyes. Chaos looked at her and then away.
"Both, I think. For loyalty to remain strong you must love what you serve. I do not love SilenceClan, but I love its dark purpose and am passionate about destroying the Clans. Therefore you need both love and loyatly to be successful. It is the foolish, like those two heaps of foxdung over there, who allow their love to stray. That is what breeds unloyalty, and treachery. You tried to warn them of me, did you not? But I have seen. And I will not let them go easily." Chaos purred, apparently very pleased with her own cunning. Anaconda looked up at her and blinked, then nodded.
"I told them what I knew was right, but they did not heed my words. I suppose I have no place to ask for their trust, though. I trust no cat." She meowed, looking straight ahead with a sad, lonely expression on her face.
"That's good. Because all cats will betray you in the end." Chaos meowed, staring at her paws. When she looked back at her squad member Anaconda's eyes were fixed on her.
"Were you betrayed once, Chaos?" She asked a little too curiously. Chaos lashed her tail and her fury rose so that she scraped her claws across the rock.
"Oh yes. I have been betrayed since the beginning. My very mother betrayed me. She left me to live for myself, raise myself, name myself. I never was given anything. And for that she payed the price." Chaos growled, digging her claws deeper and deeper into her sunning stone. Anaconda looked up at her and then away.
"My mother abandoned me, too." She mewed softly. Chaos looked at her and smiled.
"I thought we were alike, you and I. Good. If you like, I can make you my squad Leutenant." Anaconda looked up at Chaos and nodded.
"I would like that, Captain."
"Please, call me Chaos. I hate titles. Now, could you do something for me, Conda?"
"Yes, Capta- I mean, Chaos?"
"Fetch me that cat that came here a short time ago with her sister and brother. The one called Despair."

Duskgaze looked over to see Chaos clawing at the boulder. She was talking to Conda about something, she was also angry, but that was normal. He turned his gaze back to Athena.

Despair's cold eyes stared out with little interest. She had noticed the two cats - one of them apparently a new member of the Clan - and how they had seemed to love each other. She had no complaints, no uncertainties. Love was a rare thing. In fact, it was a treasure. Any cat with that had something worth while. Despair decided, as she listened to the many complaints and threats of the evil cats around her, that she would intercede once. Once. The she-cat padded swiftly, her lean body more graceful than seemed natural. She dipped her head to Scavenger, who gave her a slight nod, and then bent in to whisper into the tom called Duskgaze's ear.
"Cherish your feelings, if they be true. Don't let murderers or even good intentions steer your paws the wrong way. You'll live happier that way." She spoke so quietly that only he and perhaps the she-cat beside him would hear. Then she dipped her head and padded towards Anaconda, who had begun to approach.
"Chaos wishes to speak with you." Conda meowed emotionlessly. Despair smiled a shy, happy little smile.
"Of course." She murmured, casting a glance over her shoulder at Duskgaze before turning to follow Anaconda over to the murderous Captain.

Athena strained to hear some of the other cats' conversations, but failed. She licked Duskgaze's ear again. The cats here were acting uneasy about her arrival, and she didn't like it. Her gaze traveled to the cat sitting away from the group. He looked uneasy and worried, and Athena had a feeling that it wasn't about her. Or was it? She sighed. Her gaze traveled off the strange cat, and to Conda, who spoke briefly to the cat that whispered into Duskgaze's ear. She was beginning to wonder if she should have even come here. Her arrival had caused some sort of commotion, and there were cats she already knew didn't like her and Duskgaze together, not because of jealousy, but because of their love for each other. Athena began to doubt if she should stay with these cats. . .

Tropic noticed a nice white female sitting accorss the clearing with Duskgaze. By the way the two of them moved around eachother, it was obvious they were in some type of love. Tropic didn't get why love made all the other SilenceClanners shiver. She took Dirigo's insight:More kits for battle. She decided to go greet the newcomer. Her strange orange and black pelt was easily spotted among darker pelted SilenceClanners, not that she cared. She liked that she was different from the rest. Besides, this new she-cat obviously was once a rouge or a loner, like herself. They'd get along just fine.
"Nice hun you got there Duskgaze." Tropicana said in an oddly friendly tone, dipping her head. "I'm Tropicana, apprentice of SilenceClan. Dirigo is my mentor." She pointed her tail to Dirigo, who sat a few yards off. "Welcome to SilenceClan." She said politely, gazing at the femora. She was obviously of good bloodlines, considering her stunning looks. Tropic knew she wasn't anything special, besides her orange and black canavas, which pointed her out from all other paintings.

Athena smiled. 'I guess some attention I've been getting has been good.' she thought. "Thank you." Athena said in response to the she-cat's welcome. "I'm Athena." Her deep blue gaze traveled across the cat. 'What strange markings.' she thought to herself. 'I'm so plain and basic. White, and blue. Boring!'
