"I need to tell you something. When I went to bury him, a dog chased me away. I left him in the open - I think the dog got his body. I'm so sorry." Mountainfur came clean.

"I can't believe that...my poor Boulderkit." Hollyleaf meowed thinking about her kit that got ate by a dog. She sighed sadly.

"No, I mean, it'll take a lot out of you. But if you're certain..." Mountainfur sighed. Taintedkit pounced on Badgerkit, who stopped suckling to wail in shock.

"Mountainfur, I'm the only queen in WindClan since Streakwater is still no well. I have no choice but to feed them..." Hollyleaf meowed but was cut off by Badgerkit's wail. "Taintedkit, honey, Please not so hard. He's younger then you." She purred licking him on the head, then licked Badgerkit's head.
Featherkit looked at the two tom kits and rolled her eyes.
(Is Featherkit still liking Badgerkit?)

Badgerkit wailed again, his strange blue eyes like deep pools of utmost serenity. He blinked up at Featherkit and meowed a greeting. Then he batted at Taintedkit's head.
"Maaaa!" Taintedkit whined, obedient to his mother even against his own wishes. "He's povokin meeeee!" He started to cry.

"Badgerkit, that's not very nice..." Hollyleaf meowed picking Featherkit up and putting her between them. "There! no more fighting."
Featherkit sat awkward between her older brother and Badgerkit.

Taintedkit sniffled, turning and burying his face in his mother's chest fur. Badgerkit smiled at Featherkit, nuzzling her gently. One by one the young kits opened their eyes. The last to open his eyes was Shadowkit, who didn't even seem to care. He slipped into a corner of the den and hid there darkly.

Featherkit nuzzled Badgerkit back, she purred. She had made a friend.
"Aww. Mountainfur, would you please go chick on Shadowkit. He's behind me..." Hollyleaf meowed up to her mate.

"He looks fine. Just unhappy." Badgerkit purred at Featherkit.

Featherkit turned to Taintedkit. "Yoou, fee-el butter?"

"Nooo..." Taintedkit said, head still buried in his mother's fur. Badgerkit smiled and flexed his claws experimentally. Shadowkit hissed unhappily, and Silverkit pounced on her older sister, Waterkit. Stripekit was the only kit who still suckled, as Boulderkit stretched and curled into a tight ball, falling fast asleep.

Featherkit gave Badgerkit a mean look. "That was nott nize, Badgerkit..." She meowed with a his moving closer to her big brother.
"Mountainfur, I think you right, 9 kits being so close together is tough...maybe I do need help but we don't have another Queen..."

"Well, our two are close to being apprenticed, at least. And maybe Streakwater'll be better soon..." Mountainfur offered. Badgerkit was taken aback. He was only looking at his claws!
