Xander lay in the field. He was in the shade of a tree. His gray pelt was shining with the light filtering through the tree. He bent his head down and took a bite of the freshly caught squirrel. His green eyes watching for anything approaching.

Reflections. The water was full of them. Leaves spiraling down toward earth, trees... white fur... sky... those strange purple-blue eyes. The she-cat's whiskers still dripped from drinking water from the stream. She turned and fixed the sky with her odd gaze. A smile passed over her face, but it wasn't a crazed smile like she usually wore. It was so much easier nowadays to be sane-looking. Maybe it was all this random contact?
"Oh Checkerpaw," she sighed as she got to her paws, "If only you could be here. You loved Greenleaf, didn't you? It was your favorite season. You always said you wished you were born in Greenleaf." She murmured, a fond smile replacing her half-hearted one. She turned and saw a grey cat sitting on a rock a ways away, eating a squirrel.
"Hmm, more company, eh?" Wildeyes wrinkled her nose at the eccentric jabber that came out of her own mouth. She'd have to learn to control that. She sighed. When cats told you that you were something, after a while you began to believe it. But I'm not insane... She thought, turning her face to the other cat. She paused, hesitating for a moment. She didn't know if she could trust this loner, but somehow, she didn't care.

Xander saw a she-cat coming closer. He stopped eating, his gaze fixed on the she-cat. "Hello" he mwed sounding as friendly as possible.

"Greetings," Wildeyes replied. She studied him with a keen expression; she studied his face, his expression in general, his outward appearance. Everything could lead to whether or not he meant her or another cat harm. He seemed alright to her. But one could never tell. Wildeyes had met some nasty cats that had seemed quite normal. Yes... one could never tell.
"It is a fine day out." Wildeyes meowed casually, her strange blue-purple eyes glinting as she looked up at the sun and then back to the stranger. He seemed relaxed enough, not frightened or worried. Of course, who would be frightened of a crazy-looking white she-cat romping about the hills?

"It is" he mewed simply. He studied the stunning white she-cat. He took another bite of the squirrel. Something about her purple eyes mesmerized him. "Would you like some?" he asked.
(Ughhh, writers block)

Wildeyes, filled with a Clan pride that never dimmed, was taken aback by the thought of sharing some other cat's hard-earned meal. She shook her head, smiling.
"Oh, no thank you. I just ate." She meowed. It was partly true. She ate earlier that morning, and while she was a little hungry it was nothing to pout about. She sat down a little ways from the tom and curled her tail over her forepaws.
"I can't say I've seen you around before. Do you live around here, or are you just passing through?" Wildeyes inquired.

"I've been through here a few times" he mewed. He took another bite of the squirrel. "I haven't seen you around either" he added."Do you live her?" he asked.

Wildeyes blinked. She knew the question was probably coming, but she still was not prepared to answer. She had never settled down for fear of wishing for the home she had left. A sad feeling entered her chest when she thought of the moorlands of her home, of Checkerpaw laughing and telling her to hurry up or she'd be left behind for the foxes. Wildeyes missed her brother, her Clan, and herself. She had lost everything when the claws of another Clan cat took her brother away.
"Ah, na, I don't have no home." She meowed, the eccentric tone returning to her voice. For some reason it always did when she was in pain. It was harder to keep up the facade when such a turmoil of emotions filled her heart.

"You like wandering around too?" he mewed questioningly. "Whats your name?" he asked.

"I'm Wildeyes," she mewed, just getting enough control to de-insanalize her voice. She smiled slightly.
"And I can't say I like wanderin', but it's what I do." She meowed. It was true, in all respects. She did not enjoy wandering as much as being with friends, but friends were hard to come by when you were insane.

"I'm Xander" he mewed. "Does anyone travel with you?" he asked.

Wildeyes tried to keep the hardy note to her voice, but in her attempt sounded more like the insane cat she almost believed she was.
"Nah. I travel alone, I do." She meowed, grinning crookedly.
"Xander, eh? That's a spiffy name. Must be proud o' that un, hm?"

Xander shifted his paws. "I guess" he mewed, slightly confused.

Wildeyes cursed herself silently. She was wierding him out. That was obvious. Oh well. It couldn't be helped. She smiled slightly and shrugged.
"When you have a name like Wildeyes you tend to appreciate other cat's much more complimentary ones."

"I like your name" he mewed with a smile. For some reason he couldn't look away from her.

Wildeyes blinked.
"Oh, well..." She shifted a little. For some reason hearing a cat say that made her feel warm inside.
"It was kind of an insult..." She muttered, flattening her ears in embarrasment. She lashed her white tail and sighed.

Xander smiled. His green gaze was locked on hers. "What clan did you come from?" he asked. He knew her name was that of the clans.

Wildeyes blinked. Her name was obviously that of the Clans, but she definately didn't look like she was forest-born. She smiled slightly.
"WindClan," she said.

"What's it like living on the moors?" he asked. His green gaze fiilled with curiousity. ((WB ))

Wildeyes shrugged.
"I dunno, it's what it is really. No different than it always has been. But there is one thing I 'specially like about the moors... the wind and sky and endless stars at night. Those are things you can't get in the forest, and those are things I cherish about this place more 'n anything else." She meowed, closing her eyes and smiling wistfully.
