OOC: Bluestar...? And yeah time jump works fine.
BIC: Gaara stared after Longan. His heart sunk to think that he had failed in his promise to Princess. But her brother, Firestar, lived there. He thought of that ginger tom that had been with Ashfire. The father of her kits. Could that be Firestar? Princess's brother? Gaara hoped so. It made the ache in his chest feel a little lighter. Firestar would care for Longan, and so then so would Ashfire. He smiled.
"He'll make a good Warrior. One with the honor of PrairieClan, the valor of HillClan, the cunning of DesertClan, and the heart of GrassClan." He meowed gently. But the names he spoke were old names, ones that had been reduced to decaying bones and windswept hills that ranged without a trace of the blood that had been spilt there.

[[You know, I think Fell is a better mate for Weepingkit...]]
"Old stories of fancy." Birdie said with a smile, recalling the old tales of ancient sea cats and cats raised by other animals. They were just stories though, right?
-
The moon shone bright as a crescent hanging in the dark sky. Birdie still hadn't mentioned anything to her mate, Gaara, and was terrified to. If he was anything like Fell he'd flee at the thought. But he wasn't like Fell, which was why Birdie was his mate. It was why Fell was dead. She stood, stretching and padding silently away so as to not wake Gaara. She found her paws carefully guiding her along unfamiliar territory, but eventually she slowed down as the contractions became unbearable.
Birdie may have only been twenty-four moons, but she had helped several cats have kits already. She knew breathing essential, a nest to keep the kits safe and warm until she braved her mate. She had to be careful, most of it was natural though. She also had to defend herself. She blinked as a glittering star streaked across the sky. It was too similar to a night passed...
Birdie looked at Fell with love in her eyes. A star streaked across the sky, and the twinkling crescent moon caught her eyes. She watched as she-cat after she-cat walked passed her to give Fell his sincere wishes. They always did at this time, telling him how handsome and kind and strong and brave he was. Birdie got to sit next to him and listen. However, a she-cat named Serenade walked up to him rather worriedly. She whispered something into his ears that only he and Birdie heard. "I'm having your kits." Fell ended up with a different she-cat almost every night, and this message was normal. These cats were always with a new tom though, and it was possible it wasn't his. He rolled his eyes, flicking his tail at two cats by either side of his. One, Oke, was a tall grey tom with thick muscle build. The other was just as big and strong, but his name was Onnal. The brothers padded over to the she-cat, and a painful shriek shattered the night air. What was left of her was a patch of blood trailing to the river where Fell lived near. She would forever find a resting place at its dark waters. Birdie shuddered. Serenade was dead.
Birdie blinked as she caught a stare up ahead in some brush. Her heart began to thud at the thought of being killed like Serenade. Suddenly, a thin yet muscular tomcat stepped from the brush. His familiar grey fur and vibrant blue eyes shocked her most to death. It was Fell. He smiled wickedly, letting his claws slide out as he approached. Her heart stopped dead. "You-you-you're... de-de-dead...." She said in disbelief. He suddenly smiled, his claws sheathing as he sat in front of her.
"True, that I am. But I wanted to tell you the truth. You need to know, darling Tweet." Birdie sighed, remembering the varied number of nicknames Fell came up with for her. "I was a handsome kittypet once, like you were. But I was then taken to the cutter..." His voice trailed away, sorrowful. "I surrounded myself with pretty she-cats to make me feel like a real tom, not just some genderless freak. Nobody knew." Birdie blinked softly, feeling bad for her old friend. "Why do you tell me this?" She asked with a sorrowing sigh. "Because you were the only cat who truly loved me. And I loved you. When I came at you... I was just... scared. I was always scared. I am truly sorry." He faded away into the night air, blown away like dust in the wind. Birdie sighed, no longer noticing the pains of the contractions. Fell had loved her. That was what mattered.
The first kit was born without much thought. He was a tomkit with a strange tortishell coloring. She smiled as she looked at him. He was to be named after the tom who had given Birdie a real life. Fell. The second kit also seemed to come painlessly, a cream-gold she-kit who Birdie named Essence. The third kit seemed to come in a breath, and Birdie smiled. She looked just like Startled Heron, and that would be her name. Why Birdie named kits after her painful memories was a mystery, but she did nonetheless. She stroked them softly as the suckled, wondering if Gaara would notice her absence.

Gaara blinked open his eyes. He turned and noticed that Birdie was no longer beside him - her nest was cold. He sighed. She had been acting strange in the past moon, and he was not ignorant enough to not know why. Perhaps... perhaps they aren't mine. That couldd explain why she went off without me. I should find her. He rose and padded forward until he picked up Birdie's scent. He found that it led him a ways away and finally when she found her he stopped and scented deeper. Kits. He took a deep breath and padded slowly forward, peeking in at Birdie.
"Hey." He meowed, sstaring at her intently and trying to smother his curiosity. One of the kits somewhat looked like him. Could they really be his? He hoped so...

"Hey..." Birdie said uneasily, looking from her mate to her kits, and back at Gaara. "I was afraid to tell you. I didn't want to scare you away." She admitted softly. "You're a father now." She said with a smile, hoping he was okay with it. She would understand if he wasn't. But she loved him more than her own life, and her kits' lives, and if it made him happy she didn't mind if he left.

Gaara relaxed as she spoke and smiled at her.
"Hey I'm a tough guy. You can't scare me away that easily. Besides, I love you, Birdie, and I love our kits." He meowed, bending down to kiss his cheek gently.

Birdie smiled. "My last love would've killed me." She said with a sigh, shaking her head. But not because they were his kits, because they couldn't be. Because he didn't want to go on believing they were, and lying to other cats. In his opinion, death was better than a lie. How sad for Fell. But he was dead too, so his life of lies was also gone. How ironic that in killing others he built up a mountain of his own pathetic lies.

Gaara felt a little stung at the comment but he shrugged it off.
"Well I don't know how having kits could be such a bad thing." He meowed with a gentle smile.

"I don't either..." Birdie said, realizing she had made a mistake. "I don't love him, you know. I thought I did, but he tried to kill me. I hate him now. I killed him, you know." She said, looking down at her kits. They should be taken back soon. She looked up at Gaara. "We take them home?"

Gaara nodded solemnly.
"Whenever you're ready." he meowed. He didn't particularly care about her past lover. What was in the past was past and he was dead, apparently, so Gaara had no reason to be jealous or angry. He didn't want to waste precious time fuming over something that couldn't be helped. He just wanted to make his mate and his kits comfortable in their home.

Birdie nodded with a purr. "I think now would be best." She said with a smile, standing s best as she could. She grabbed Fell and Startled Heron in her jaws as they were very small, and she could hold both of them at once. She beckoned Gaara to take Essence and folow her home.

Gaara bent to take up Essence but froze. W-what? No! This can't be... His eyes widened in horror. Essence mewled pitifully and he felt himself begin to tremble. So Starteller's prophecy will come true after all... He thought as he gently picked the kit up. Essence mewled pitifully but didn't protest much more as Gaara carried her after his mate.
OOC: duh duh duh duuuhhhhh!

Fell mewled softly as Birdie carried him and his sister along. She glanced back at Gaara, who seemed frozen momentarily over his kit. She sighed, shrugging her shoulders. When they reached home she set her kits down in her bed softly. "What was that about?"

Gaara gently set Essence beside the other kits. Should he tell his mate of Starteller's prophecy? She might just think him suspicious - and perhaps he was. But Gaara knew what his daughter was, and he knew what that meant for her. I must protect them at all costs. Especially if the others may be Salinka as well. He thought gravely. He looked up at Birdie.
"Did you notice the mark on Essence?" He asked gently, motioning to her forehead. There was a small black shape that looked - by some stretch of imagination - rather like a roaring lion. It was the mark of a Salinka. A Chosen.

[[Do all have that mark? If so, than It's one of Startled Heron's black spots on her paw, and one of Fell's red patches on his flank...]]
Birdie smiled. "It's a very unique mark." She said with a sigh. Whatever did that cause to stir up Gaara? It was just a little mark on her daughter.

OOC: They all have a different black mark based on their "place" among the chosen and they're all in different places. For example Essence's is on her forehead and Weepingkit's is on her shoulder.
BIC: Gaara nodded.
"Yes. Where I come from there was a prophecy that told of a great leader's blood rising up to save the remnants of fallen Clans... A very wise Healer called Starteller told the Clans that kits from all sorts of places will be born with a strange mark, and then they will join together as the Salinka... the "chosen", and defeat the evil presence that holds the Clans at bay." He meowed gravely.

Birdie blinked, laughing. "Well, it must be in your blood. Look, Fell and Startled Heron are marked like that too." She said with a smile, flicking ehr mate playfully. Bedtime stories were nothing to get worked up about.

Gaara frowned and looked at them. All of his kits...
"It's not my blood as much as my father's and his brother's blood. And it's not exactly something to laugh about Birdie..." He meowed fitfully. Gaara wasn't as superstitious as he sometimes seemed, but he had seen the Chosen before. He had seen their power.
And he feared them.

Birdie shook her head. "Alright, sorry." She said with a sigh. They were just kits! They had no supernatural powers or anything, so he had no need to be worried. Just kits.

Gaara sighed.
"No, I'm sorry for worrying you. Just forget it." He meowed, but his heart ached as he stared at his kits. One day they will leave us... whether by will or by force... they will be taken. For they are Salinka... they are Chosen.

[[By choice for Heron and Fell]]
Birdie nodded, smiling. Her kids had strange marks - an eagle on Startled Heron's paw and a paw with claws on Fell's flank. But that was nothing important, just unique happenings. She was fine. Not to worry. Right?
