Sunset had rung its fingers over the marshlands, coating the world in a final little blanket of warmth. Midnightsun sat with his tail curled around his forepaws, his eyes half closed. He had gone on the Dawn Patrol, and had hunted, and now he was exhausted. Ever since his Warrior ceremony, he had been working three times as hard. It was obviously starting to show. Flicking his ear lazily, he watching a few kits playing in the clearing. They would be ushered into the nursery soon. Nightfall was near. Midnightsun tucked his paws more comfortably under his chest, looking around at his Clanmates. He could see Articstar near her den, talking to her deputy, Molefur. Earthsong was sharing tongues with Stonesearch. The grey Warrior who had once lived in SilenceClan was scarely in the camp anymore except at dawn and sunset. Midnightsun wondered where he went all the time. Closing his eyes, the Warrior let himself relax. He suddenly heard something and turned to see Brokentail sulking along the edge of camp. The large tabby paused at the entrance, threw a glance over his shoulder, and then dissapeared. Midnightsun's skin shivered and his hackles rose. What murderous scheme was Brokentail coming up with now?

"Don't be so harsh." The lilting voice said softly, quietly. She nuzzled Midnightsun gently. "I know their is tension about Brokentail. No need to bristle your fur off." Dovewings sighed from the stress and flicked her tail. She wanted to leave ShadowClan right now, to have more excitement. Maybe join TrueClan.
But Dovewings stared after Brokentail and a low murmur of doubt crept to her occupied mind. He is definetly up to something, she fretted.

Midnightsun relaxed slightly at his Clanmate's touch. He sighed as he thought of the evidence he and Roaringwaters had found. A shiver ran down his spine. He was positive that the death of Stormcloud, the previous deputy, had not been an accident or imposed by ThunderClan. Brokentail had killed her. Midnightsun turned and looked at Dovewings.
"You would be afraid, as well, if you knew what he's done." Midnightsun couldn't keep his voice from breaking a little.

Dovewings eys turned to stone, her heart sunk. So everyone knew, what he did to Stormcloud. "Do not be afraid," she whispered, her eyes serious. "Arcticstar knows about what he has done. She needs solid proof, so she can exile him." She tried to make her voice sound soothing, but it sounded anything but.

Midnightsun gritted his teeth.
"If only our medicine cat would get a sign from StarClan already! Aren't they at all concerned about this?" He hissed. He sighed and shook his head. Was this how it would end, being picked off one by one by a Clanmate?

"I am sure they are, Midnightsun." Dovewings replied quietly, her eyes fixated on something far away. She glanced back at the young Warrior. "They must be waiting, too." Her explanation sounded really lame. she hoped she was providing enough comfort... although she was horrible at it.

Midnightsun sighed.
"I just feel so helpless. I guess you do, too, though. I mean, what can we do, tell the Clan and put it to a vote?" He asked sarcastically.

Canyonpaw walked through the terrain without much notice. He knew where he was headed. So when he heard two strange cat's voices, he froze. Scenting ShadowClan, he sighed. He'd have to face them sometime, why not now? "Hello?" He called out, trying to figure their exact location unless he and Mistpaw were pounced.

Midnightsun started at an unfamiliar voice and scent coming from outside the camp. He started forward, shoving his way through the bramble tunnel into the open. He saw the two cats and tried to remain calm, although every hair on his pelt threatened to rise. He recognized the tom for some reason, but Midnightsun couldn't quite recall why.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, trying not to sound too hostile. They had a scent that reminded him of TrueClan, but not quite. If they were from that Clan, perhaps they were here to see Articstar.

"We need to see Arcticstar about joining ShadowClan. Or rejoining for some of us." Canyonpaw stated the second sentence sheepishly, ears pulling back in embarrassment. He wished he could take back everything he had previously done, but he couldn't. So he just hoped that the cat wouldn't recognize him. Because Canyonpaw certainly could.

Midnightsun stared at the tom for a little while, and then twitched his whiskers. Canyonpaw was certainly different, but he could still recognize him. He doubted there was much reason to let the cat into the Clan, but the scent of TrueClan was reasuring, somewhat. Midnightsun flicked the tip of his tail.
"Eh," he meowed, turning, "'Kay then. Follow me."
Mistpaw felt a horrible ache in her chest. Would they be accepted into the Clan? What if they were turned away? After all, both of them had spent a considerable amount of time in SilenceClan. Mistpaw had had many oppertunities to leave, but she had absorbed the teachings of the murderous Clan, and now all she could do was hope that her sense of justice and... well, she just hoped she'd get lucky.

Dovewings gave a skeptical look to the apprentices. They smelled odd; was that SilenceClan scent? She shivered. Spies, were they? Her eyes grew wide at thought of infiltrators. Hey... and that male. He was familiar. He reminded her of the kit, some time back... Hmph. Well, she best find out. She followed Midnightsun and the two apprentices to the Leaders Den, where Arcticstar slept.
She didn't have to wait for someone to ask for the entrance. She had heard everything outside, from Midnightsun and Dovewing's worries to the sudden entrance of two strange apprentices. She stood up, her stiff muscles aching from sitting and pondering so long. Her fluffy white pelt was sticking out in all directions. After giving herself a very speedy wash, she slid gracefully to her den entrance. "Dovewings, Midnightsun." she greeted the warriors warmly. "I see we have visitors. Why don't we come down inside my den?" She eyed the apprentices warily. They didn't seem harmful, but they could be. They wern't cats you would discuss SilenceClan battle plans with. They could be spies. Arcticstar looked away, and stalked down, deeper into the den, leading the warriors and apprentices into her sleeping area.

Canyonpaw gulped nervously. Remember me, the silent kit? The one that couldn't hear to you, or his siblings? The one who in anger, left? Who tried to kill his brother, succeeded, and tried to kill his sister, nearly succeeded? Well, that little kit's grown up now. He's changed. In more than one way, too. Canyonpaw shivered. He wasn't sure if he should talk or just nod or act dumb. Shaking himself, he stared down the den. Now he had a choice. He chose to head in. "Arcticstar, you probably don't remember me. You probably won't without a clue, as I'm not the little deaf kit I once was." He sighed, curling his tail around his paws worriedly. He wanted to rejoin his homeClan, make up for the wrong he had done, and receive his ceremony proudly where he had been born. He cast a glance at Mistpaw, and then sighed inwardly. Would she be unhappy? Would she leave him, or regret this choice? Did she want to go to her home? He suddenly felt guilty. I should've taken her home, so she could be happy. Boy am I a selfish cat.

Mistpaw's face was cool, her stance relaxed. She felt a strange, icy calm wash over her. The sound of Canyonpaw's voice... the sight of his face... everything made her heart pound against her chest. She just watched him, secretly adoring the very air he breathed. Every time he inhaled, she would hold her breath until she could suck in that exhale he was bound to give. It may have seemed silly, but Mistpaw could think of nothing but him. She didn't care if she had to call this strange Clan her home. She didn't care about anything, as long as Canyonpaw was there. As long as she had him... she would go anywhere... she would do anything. She looked up at Articstar as he finished speaking. She longed to speak, but words would not come. She merely stared.

Arcticstar nodded, her cool blue eyes tight on the apprentice. "Canyonkit." she said quietly, looking away. He had been the one who had the rage inside of him, the one who couldn't hear. She had been an apprentice when Caynonkit left the Clan. And now he was Canyonpaw, coming back to her clan, maybe to be successful and good this time. Should she give him another chance? Would Talonstar give him another chance? She looked over at the little female apprentice with him. "Who are you?" She asked quietly.

Canyonpaw smiled, glad that she could at least judge him fairly. If she remembered him, she would know who he was and what he had become in a fuller sense, and it was also fair. He nudged Mistpaw, willing her answer the leader. She looked so beautiful here, and everywhere, and Canyonpaw felt himself shudder at the thought of ever leaving he. What fool would? He was glad she had found him, or he had found her, however you turned it, he was glad. So he relaxed a little as he waited for her to reply.

Mistpaw's mind churned as she thought through all of the pain that had come from being stolen away to SilenceClan. She remembered willingly staying, learning... her friend, Crescentscar, who was now dead. No doubt killed by a Clan cat. Somehow Mistpaw was not quite as sad as she would have been under different circumstances. She would miss her friend, but she knew he was evil. They were all evil.
"I am Mistpaw. I used to be Rosekit of WindClan, but I was stolen away to SilenceClan. I remained there on my own will, but I left to join TrueClan. And now," she breathed, her eyes straying to Canyonpaw's face, "I am here." She truly had moved around a lot. But she thought that finally she was ready to settle down. Her beautiful fur, streaked with grey, seemed to absorb all light and shadow around her, making her seem strong and mysterious. But Mistpaw was no longer the strange, quiet apprentice she had been among the murderous SilenceClannners. Her expression was open, her eyes bright. She was an open book now, even if she was still a little hard to understand.

Canyonpaw was taken aback. He had not known that she had once been known as Rosekit. That made him smile a little. But would she want to change her name? Would she want to change who she was? Become sweet Rosekit again? Well, Rosepaw now. Would she become Mistrose? Canyonpaw wasn't sure he could remember if she did change her name, but he would be happy for her if she did. He did prefer the name Mistpaw, however. He watched Arcticstar, hoping that she would see their true colors, know that they were sorry for ever wanting to be SilenceClanners. He had gone through a lot in his life, and it had all strengthened him. He hoped Arcticstar could understand.

Arcticstar nodded; she remembered a WindClan kit being stolen a while back. "ah ha." she pondered wisely. "But can we trust you? Canynonpaw, You have had a... past here. That none of us can forget." her eyes went sorrowful as she remembered Rootpaws death. "Well... Mistpaw.. you are accepted. and Canyonpaw. Well... i guess you are to, but you will be under supervision for a while." she looked up, her blue eyes on Midnghtsun. "do you think you can keep an eye on Canyonpaw? I'll take on Mistpaw."
