Fallingfeather rose and padded away from Shadowstar. As she called for cats to patrol and search for Canyonpaw and Mistpaw, she was instantly gifted with volunteers. She smiled, nodded. "Anyone else? We'll be lookin' for some apprentices." Her eyes lit up slyly. The wind buffeted her fur slightly as she padded out of camp. To the patrol she called, "We'll follow their scent trail up to the Death Tree first."

Rain stepped foward. "I would like to go on the patrol," she meowed softly. Some might think that she was shy and she was. She had been hurt by many that she trusted and that was why it took Shadowstar a lot of persuasion to get her to join this clan.

Raven stood with his amber eyes on his paws. Mistpaw had been very friendly to him. He hoped she was alright. I've got to find her, and help her. I've got to. He told himself, turning his handsome face to Fallingfeather and pricking his ears slightly.

"This is it? Well, if that's all, we might as well get going. Raven, I'll put you to the ultimate test." She meowed slyly. Padding to the appentice, she glared into his eyes with a burning hatred. "You are to scout and lead this patrol. If ever I am needed, I will be back here. I'd like to see your tracking skills." Her face was inches from his now. No, she did not want to test his skills. But after a long night pondering, she finally remembered who he was. That poor, helpless newborn kit finally found his way to a rightful home. Her thought was, easily could she jog his memory if he fell back into the water...
((Don't let him remember yet, not time in the plot. ( ; ))

Raven looked into those eyes, and he felt he knew them... but he shook the thought off. Of course he did, Fallingfeather was his deputy. He turned and started when he found himself looking into the depths of fierce hazel. But somehow he could see nothing behind them. No feeling whatsoever...
"I will go on the patrol, seeing as how you need more cats." A monotone voice spoke to him. Without another word the tortoiseshell she-cat slipped in behind Raven, her eyes staring evenly at him. He felt nervous. He didn't know who this she-cat was, and yet somehow... he felt they had met before, a long time ago. Pull yourself together. He ordered himself, turning and padding out into the forest. He started towards the Death Tree, scenting the air. He could smell everything around him, all the trees and prey and even the cats behind him. He suddenly caught a whiff of Canyonpaw and Mistpaw's scent, mingled together as they moved away from the tree.
"This way." He meowed, flicking his tail. The she-cat behind him made no sound, merely nodded and followed him.

"So nice of you to join us." Fallingfeather meowed in a tone sweet as honey. Fake, but convincing. She followed the apprentice, catching the scent as he did so also. She felt a little happiness, buried deep beneath anger and lifeless emotion. "Maybe you aren't as useless as I thought." Fallingfeather mumbled as she padded in the rear of the group.

Raven heard a soft voice murmuring behind him, and he caught the words his Deputy said. He felt a little sorrow deep in his heart. Was everyone like this about him? Did they all think him useless, but put on a fake smile anyway? He turned and looked at the she-cat behind him, then he turned and looked around. They had come to a dark river, and the scent was gone. Raven leaped through the water without a thought to the chill droplets on his pelt. He sniffed around on the bank, and thought he could smell the scent. He turned to the tortoiseshell cat.
"I think I found the scent. What do you think...?" He tilted his head slightly.
"I agree. It is the scent we've been following." She meowed evenly.
"Ok." He meowed, beginning again.

Fallingfeather leaped into the water next to Raven, sniffing the bank. As she did so, she snuck an invisible paw out and under Raven, attempting to kick his feet out from under him. To make it appear honestly by accident, she stepped closer and sniffed the same spot as he. "Yes, that's them..."

Rain followed the cats silently. "Well Raven which way did they go?" she asked in a monotone voice.
The tom had potential but he seemed to soft. SilenceClan would have to toughen him off if he was fit to be in the clan and actually fit in.

Raven noticed Fallingfeather's paw and stepped over it. He narrowed his eyes and looked out at the golden plains before him. He flicked his ears in that direction.
"They went there. There's a strange scent, though. What is that place?" He asked, turning to Fallingfeather.
"That is the territory of TrueClan. It would seem they have either kidnapped our apprentices or..." Whisper's monotone voice drited off. Raven looked up at her, his eyes wide.
"Or what?"
"They went there of their own accord." She meowed emotionlessly, looking out into the plains.

Rain stared blankly at the golden plains infront of her. Why would anyone want to join TrueClan? she asked herself.
"Shadowstar needs to hear about this," she meowed urgently.

Whisper nodded gravely and Raven shifted.
"How could they betray their Clan and leave?" He murmured, shaking his head. Whisper looked down at him, arching her brow slightly but with no expression in her eyes.
"Loyalty is a waste of time, cat. Do what you have to do to survive, and if you're having a hard time doing that where you are, move downwind." She meowed emotionlessly, turning and wading back into the river. Raven stared out at TrueClan territory, his eyes blank.
"That just doesn't seem to be a way to live." He murmured sadly, then turned to Fallingfeather.

((Shadowstar already knows, Fallingfeather told him. ( ; ))
"I shall tell him." Fallingfeather meowed, racing swiftly from the river and up toward the camp. She glanced back silently, no cat could keep up with her pace. She felt free, for once, and surprisingly calm. She was always worried, frayed, nervous. She always felt disconnected, separate. No, now she was once again that same old cat, once running from camp in search of true fate. Never did she realize that fate was a painful burden, one she had not willingly took to bare. Down into camp she barreled, tripping over some apprentices. In her thoughts, she had become reckless, and had not noticed the cats. However, if she had kept going, she may have ran into a camp barrier. Silently, a small sliver that was still Fallingfeather thanked the cats. But it was instantly hidden as pain surged through her paw. They had been tossing a stick around blindly, and Fallingfeather had disrupted their child-like games. Now the stick was buried deep into her pad, her leg stiff with pin. She growled, padding after Snakepelt and into his den. She then noticed Shadowstar, and whipped out her tale.
