Charcoalpaw could not here the plod of of his pawsteps, but his visual spread out across a vast territory. He waited at Sunningrocks for his mentor. He was nervous about training. He knew she'd get snappy with his awkward deafness, but it was just something she'd have to get used to. Charcoalpaw's self confidence had went up after explaining his feelings to Tawnypaw; he now felt like everything was right. A strong wind kicked up some dust, getting in his eyes. He coughed miserably.

{ ooc - Sorry about the late reply. Oh yes, your signature is ready. It's posted in my shop.
Ebonymask's fur prickled with discomfort and nervousness as she slowly picked her way through ThunderClan territory. Her pelt gleamed off-white in the sunlight, her sapphire eyes narrowed as she searched for her apprentice. She gulped in worry. How could she have been so stupid as to ask him to wait outside camp? There were many dangers to an apprentice, especially a deaf one such as Charcoalpaw. She cursed herself mentally, visibly relaxing as she took in a gleam of ebony fur.
She straigtened herself up, tail waving as she stepped into the vicinity. "Charcoalpaw!" She called, emphsizing the words so the apprentice could read her lips her clearly. "Sorry I kept you waiting." She placed a comforting tail light on his shoulder. "How about we take a tour of the borders and territory first." It wasn't a question, just a statement of fact that needn't be answered. "In fact, I think I should begin by telling you a little about sunningrocks here. Understand?" She looked at him with caring eyes. How Firestar had decided that she was patient enough for a deaf apprentice, she didn't know, but she wouldn't let him down. This could be difficult.

Charcoalpaw rolled his eyes. "Yes, I can read you loud and clear." His eyes danced with slight amusement. "Tell me everything you know." He wanted to drink this knowledge up hungrily. He was a very smart cat, but knew he needed to add to his knowledge. A strong breeze rolled up, knocking sandy geography into his eyes once more. He sighed and spat dust up, pelt prickling with embarrassment and annoyance.

Ebonymask grinned imperceptibly, tail waving. Lucky Charcoalpaw was good natured. If he wasn't.. well.. she probably wouldn't have survived. She cleared her throat nervously.
"Alright," She announced, feigning confidence. "You know that RiverClan," She spat the name out with disgust, "Are always trying to steal it off us. Know why? Because RiverClan, or so they say, used to own Sunningrocks. They were their pride and joy until the river went down and ThunderClan claimed them. They're been ours ever since," She informed him, slowly gaining confidence as she spoke, "They're always warm. That's why most cats always come here to relax. C'mon, I'll show you," She mewed, leaping nimbly onto said rocks while motioning her apprentice with her tail.
"Anyway," She continued, closing her eyes and enjoying the warmth that the earth below her contained, "It's still considered trespassing if you go into the river to hunt or swim. Although I don't know why they came up with it, I wouldn't touch the murky thing." She sniffed, opening her eyes to glare at the river disdainfully. She looked back to Charcoalpaw, grinning.
"Ready to get the full tour?"

He purred at her disgust in RiverClan. Of course, he held no obvious grudges against the other Clan. After all, Sunningrocks had been theirs, until the river went down. Maybe they had every right to try to steal the warm brown stones from ThunderClan. He nodded at her last question and leaped down from the hot earth and waited for his mentor to go on and lead the way. I'll be glads to get out of here. The wind here is so close to WindClan's standards!

Ebonymask smiled warmly at her apprentice's eagerness. She was anticipation a long, knowledgeable day of mentoring.
"All right. Next off, the boundaries." She trotted briskly away, lengthening her strides until she was at a slow run. She was sure that Charcoalpaw could keep up - she didn't look back once. When she neared the borders of ShadowClan, she stopped abruptly, shuddering. She looked back to the apprentice.
"Tell me. What can you smell?"

He wrinkled his nose at the nasty smell. "I smell..frogs, pines, and swamp." He said in disatste. ThunderClan's scent was sweet and forest-like, but shadowClan's scent smelled just plain nasty. He recoiled immediately. "What do Shadowclanners eat? Crowfood?" He asked sarcastically.

Ebonymask split into peals of delighted laughter at Charcoalpaw's remark. "I would think so. The reek, don't they?" She replied, still grinning widely. "I don't know if you took in the smell, but there's also the Thunderpath. Follow me."
She padded forward through the undergrowth, stopping a small ways away from the weak rays of transpart heat. It filtered through the leaves, creating a slight green glow. The beauty was stunted, however, by the rank, tar-like smell the came from ahead of them. Steel monsters roared past, buffeting her with strong winds that they managed to create.
"This is the Thunderpath in all it's glory. It's the border between ShadowClan and our territory." She said, turning around to face her apprentice head on as she did so. Her eyes flashed sternly. "You must never, ever, stray too close. Not many cats come out alive, and those who do are extremely lucky. Do you understand, Charcoalpaw?"

For once, Charcoalpaw didn't have something sarcastic to say, nor did he roll his eyes. He merely stared at the brown snake of a path, watching monsters of all different colors swarm by: red, blue, green, and some colors he didn't recognize, but knew that they were colors. He backed up slowly, glanciing at his mentor. His voice cracked. "Let's get out of here," He said hollowly.

Ebonymask nodded silently, placing a comforting tail on her apprentice's shoulder. She was glad he had taken it in without much fuss, but concerned about his silence. Giving one last glance back to the rank, winding trail, she continued forward, leading Charcoalpaw deeper into the forest until the stench was gone.
Before them stood four great oaks, perfectly parallel in a square. Their crowns stood mighty and high, sunlight filtering through them to give the place a green glow. It was almost magical. A high rock was between the four grand oaks, they towered over it.
"This is Four Trees, Charcoalpaw," She said to him, "Every full moon, they join the four clans together in a gathering in peace to negotiate treaty, territory, news, and all manner of things. You'll be able to come to one soon, you know." She smiled, looking down on her apprentice with kind eyes.
