Shadepaw awoke to the smell of different herbs. They all had a differnt scent, poppy and death berries were the only ones he knew of for illness back in the nursery. The little light that spread found it way to his nest gave him a burning sensation. he mumbled softly to himself as he wanted the nice coldness of night back.

A soft noise of a frog shot his head up. "I'm up" he hissed toward the frog. His paws streached in the moss and he looked over the few herbs he knew. "poppy" he meowed toward a a pile of seeds, "used to calm down, also used to dull pain"

"Very good." Bluefeather said, yawning. She had woken up to her apprentices muttering. "What's all the fuss, Shadepaw?" She asked. She was glad he was learning the herbs very quickly. He'll be able to succeed me very quickly. Fox told me I have a few more moons left to live...

"sorry" said Shadepaw fast as he had not expected the she-cat to wake, "I just wanted to go over the herbs I know Bluefeather so i can be the best apprentice medicine cat I can be" he said in a spin as he faced his mentor. "I didn't mean to wake you"

"It's not a problem, Shadepaw." She grinned, eyes glowing. "I'm glad your practicing."

He smiled in embarrassment, "What is catmint? I heard of it from the elders but what does it do?" he asked curiosly.
