Shadowpaw never ventured this far from camp. Lately he had been sitting in his den, bored. He didn't often go on patrols, for he was not trusted. Being born on the outskirts of SilenceClan and TrueClan territory by a former SilenceClan Warrior and the previous SilenceClan leader didn't exactly get you hgh points in RiverClan. In fact, the only friend he had was Ghodtpaw, and he liked her a lot. But he knew she didn't have any feelings like that for him.
Not even his own sister, Lichenpaw, would talk to him. He knew she still loved their mother, Chasinglight, very much, but she had a hard way of showing it. Being brought up by a murderous tabby tom made her blind to what was really happening. Shadowpaw was glad his mother didn't give him up to RootClaw. Even if she had, he'd still show that he cared for her! He sighed and sat down among a nice willow tree, confused.
I wish Ghostpaw were here.

Ghostpaw had been wondering of herself lately. She knew Lichenpaw was Chasinglight's. But who was she? She wasn't Rootclaw's, or he'd care about her somewhat. She wasn't RiverClan because she wasn't accustomed to swimming. She was just a freak. She sat down, staring into a soft eddy at the side of the river. Two white eyes. Not a hint of color, only white. Her fur was white, too. She was perfectly white. No pupils, no iris, just white eyes. And snow-white fur. She got sick of white just looking at herself. But then she'd let her claws slide out. Red like blood. A pure, true red like a rose. She'd never shown any other cat before, but somehow she knew they were like her real family's. The only thing she got from her parents. Of course they weren't snow-white. Of course they didn't have white eyes. But she knew, just somehow knew, that one of them had red claws like she did. It made her feel more at home. And obviously Rootclaw didn't have red claws. He wasn't her father. Because he claimed her mother was dead, but she could almost feel it. Her mother was alive. Ghostpaw sighed and looked away, scenting Shadowpaw. She walked up to him, knowing Rootclaw would kill her if he saw her with him. But she didn't care. She had no reason to care. "Hey, Shade." She said with a smile.

[Shade?] Shadowpaw looked up, heart swelling. "Ghostpaw...Hi." He said, taking a step closer to her. He felt waves of unsureness and doubt sliding through her and was immediately concerned. "What's wrong?" He asked sincerely, eyes full of an unknown emotion.

[[Nickname. I wanted a cat to do it, but Sycamoretail never ended up doing it so why not Ghosteh?]]
"I'm just thinking. I don't have a family, you know. Rootclaw's a liar, I know it. I feel alone." She said, taking a nervous step away from Shadowpaw. It wasn't purposeful, but she was a cat who liked her space plentiful. She looked somewhat nervously out as she thought about the horrible things in her life. But Shadowpaw... He was acting... odd. What was that feeling?

Shadowpaw sat down, eyes full of concern. "Ghostpaw, You have me. And Lichenpaw. I'm sure your family, your real family, were great, strong warriors. Rootclaw might of...stolen you." He finished off. "I feel alone sometimes, too. I am named after a father I had never known."

[[Oh yeah, I forgot all about that part of the plot! Ooooh, you'd be very mad at me if you knew....... Poor Shadowkit... Oh yeah, you'd be very mad at me and Shadster... >: D]]
Ghostpaw nodded and sighed. "Obviously. I don't have you without threat of being hurt by Rootclaw. And Lichenpaw's never liked me." Ghostpaw said, looking away at the ground in the distance. She sighed, wishing that her life had been different. It certainly would've been easier.

[[[[[[[[[[TELL]]]]]]]]]] /Shadowpaw sighed. "That's not true. Lichenpaw loves you as if you were blood sisters!"

[[PM me and MAYBE I'll tell...]]
Ghostpaw shook her head. "She doesn't. She won't even look at me most of the time. She's got darkness in her heart." Ghostpaw said with a sigh, looking up sadly at Shadowpaw. She wished his words might have been true. But they weren't.

"She's not entirely evil." Shadowpaw said thoughtfully. He had heard her that day she bursted out with 'i love you!' to their mother. Lichenpaw was just misguided. He decided to voice his opinion. "She's just a little misguided. Maybe we can show her the truth....somehow?"

"Hah. The only truth she knows is who she is." Ghostpaw said, shaking her head darkly. Her sister saw no light. Her heart was filled with shadows of hatred and evil. She was tainted with the darkness Rootclaw had filled her with from an extremely early age. Also, she was not about to listen to two cats she hated, or at least didn't like.

Shadowpaw shook his head. "I think your wrong. I know my father was a good cat...even if he was SilenceClan. He was a noble leader. And my mother...is obviously good. Lichenpaw just needs to see the truth!" He urged, stepping closer.

Ghostpaw shook her head. "She won't listen to reason. Don't bother." She said, suddenly realizing that he had stepped closer. Yet she didn't mind this time. Maybe she was getting used to the kind tomcat. Maybe.

"Fine." He said hopelessly, lashing his tail. "I guess I'll try on my own. I need to get her to her first self. Normal self."

"She's not normal." Ghostpaw said with a sigh. "But go ahead and try. She's coming." Ghostpaw got up and bounded away unhappily, off into the land beyond. She was right, though, and moments later Lichenpaw slipped through some undergrowth. She gave Shadowpaw a dark look but said nothing.

Lichenpaw scoffed but looked up at Shadowpaw. "What you want? A confession? Sure, I know you're my brother. And sure, I know that Ghostpaw isn't related to us. We both know." She said rather rudely, rolling her eyes and sitting down.

"You love her, though, as if she were her own sister. I cannot say the same. I may love her in a different. I don't know. Lichenpaw, why are you so dark?" He asked, eyes wide.

"I don't hate that stupid kittypet. And I'm dark because it's better than being a soft kitten." She hissed unhappily, looking away. She hated Ghostpaw. And Chasinglight. And Shadowpaw. And Rootclaw. And... did she hate Drippingpaw? It was getting harder to tell.

Shadowpaw purred. "You don't hate anyone. Your always wearing a blindfold. And being nice doesn't qualify you as soft. Take Firestar and Graystripe, for example. Those too have got into so much trouble by just helping out cause they are nice, but in battle they can be the scariest cats ever."

"You're nice, and you're soft." She said rudely, turning her nose up. "And you're stupid, too. If you're too blind to see what you really are, or what I am, then that's pathetic." She said with a vicious hiss. Why was he so stupid? Couldn't he see that she'd kill him if he wouldn't be troubled for it. If she could do it without any anger from anyone, she'd gladly.
