Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour, Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us... Despair sat with her tail curled around her paws, her red-amber eyes staring off into apparently nothing. She sat with hunched shoulders and flattened ears, her silken fur fluffed up against the wind. Beside her stood her much larger brother. His powerful shoulders and thick pelt were closer to their father's build, and his fierce expression always made Despair think of some of the murderous cats of their old Clan. She looked at him and then sighed and stared down at her paws. Lethal turned to his sister, pricking his ears curiously. "What's wrong, Des?" He asked, concerned. Beside him their sister Disaster batted at a fly that swooped around her head irritantly. She looked at her sister and blinked. "Yeah, what's eating you tail? These flies probably..." Disaster muttered, swiping once more at the annoying insects. Despair looked at her siblings and then shook her head. "I am thinking. Only thinking. With these new squads being organized, do you think we'll be seperated, brother?" She asked Lethal. He sighed and looked into the sky. "Maybe. Maybe not. Hey, it might be good for you to hang with some other cats for once." Lethal purred. Despair looked down and sighed, her shoulders slumping. "I don't want to..." She said quietly, pouting. Disaster laughed maliciously as she caught and ate one of the flies. Lethal watched her with a disgusted expression on his face. "That's impolite, Tera!" He scolded. Disaster looked at him and sniffed. "Like I care. They deserve it." She growled.

"Mmm, Yes, they do." Oneida said from across the clearing. The three other cats didn't hear her, but she could hear them. The flies had been quite annoying lately, but that always was to be expected with warmer weather. Watching the three siblings like that reminded her of herself and her other siblings, Dirigo and Excelsior. The three had never split up, but with new squads jumping around, they had already been split:Oneida had been chosen to join a group and her siblings hadn't. But it was only because Oneida was the largest female in SilenceClan, and her weight defied the others. Oneida wasn't fat, just strong.
Excelsior seemed to be thinking Oneida's same thoughts. They are like us. They are three, two females, one male...Extraordinary. He was perched next to Oneida, slight wind ruffling their pelts. "Shall we talk to them? Your staring at them so intently, your acting as if they'd be your next meal!" Lately, it had only been Excelsior and Oneida hanging out together: Dirigo was caught up in her mate, Blazepath, so there was no way to talk to her. But if Dirigo has kits, our strong legacy will continue. I like Blazepath. He is a good cat.
Oneida nodded to her brother and padded forward quietly, the gray, haunting camp making her eyes glow considerably. "Hello." Oneida said, gaze sweeping over the siblings. "I am Oneida. This is my brother, Excelsior. Our sister is Dirigo, the one in the quarrel with our Captain, speckledtail. My brother and I were thinking of making a good acquaintance with you."
Excelsior watched his sister carefully. Must she make everything sound so serious and primitive? She never really loosens up. She doesn't know how to have fun, like Dirigo and I.

Speckledtail hissed in frustration. She could hardly believe how stupid she was being. She snuck up on Claudius and smiled, a little sheepishly at first. "Hey." She said surprisingly, and Claudius turned with fur on end like a frightened kit. She laughed at him and he sighed. "Don't scare me." He said unhappily, looking away again as if he was worried. She leaned in close to him. "I need your help." She said quietly. "Fine, whatever." He said and merely shrugged it off. She sighed but then walked over to Excelsior and Oneida, Dirigo and the newbies there as well. She smiled. "Hello. I'm Speckledtail, the new captain." She said very monotone for her soft eyes. "Would you, Disaster, and you Lethal, like to join my squad?" She more stated than asked. If they refused she'd not be happy.

Disaster was the first to notice the cats approaching. She flicked her tail lazily, and Lethal's head at once swung around. Only Despair remained the same, looking at the cats out of the corner of her eye. Outwardly it seemed that Lethal was the leader of the tightly knit group. He stood and greeted the other cats, dipping his head as they introduced themselves. Three like us. A brother and two sisters. Interesting. He thought.
"I am Lethal. These are my sisters, Despair and Disaster." He meowed. Disaster looked up and smiled crookedly.
"Don't mind if ya call me Tera. Lotsa cats do." She mewed, winking at Excelsior. Lethal rolled his eyes. Disaster could be such a flirt. He turned and watched as the Captain, Speckledtail - he knew of her from her ceremony - approached. She said what she had to say. He could tell she wasn't really asking as much as demanding. He felt his fur prickle. Abandon Despair again...? He thought worriedly, looking down at her. She looked up, her eyes narrowed. A silent thought seemed to pass between the two as their eyes met. Then she looked away and Lethal reluctantly turned to Speckledtail.
"My sister and I will join your squad, then." He meowed. Disaster snorted.
"Yeah, thanks for inviting Despair along, we're just tickled pink by the offer." She said sarcastically. Despair eyed her and the somewhat unclever she-cat quieted down.

"If you all want to join my squad, I'd be thrilled." She said with a friendly nod and a grin. But it vanished within the instant it had appeared. It had been faked like most of Speckledtail's life. And her life was about to become a lot less real now, with the help of Claudius and all. She shook her head darkly and wondered why she even bothered.

Despair could see her brother was about to agree to the proposal. She interupted him, even as he opened his mouth to reply.
"That won't be nessecary, thank you. If I am unneeded I would rather put my claws to better use elsewhere, begging your pardon, Captain." She said softly, her eyes narrowed. She did not want to tangle with this she-cat, but she did not want to be paired with her, either. She saw her brother give her a sad look, and she knew what he was thinking. How could you leave us again? All we want it to protect you. Despair unsheathed her claws and dug them into the dirt before her. But I don't need protecting. She thought grimly. She had progressed since they'd joined SilenceClan. She wouldn't be beaten again.

"Never unneeded. And not unwanted. Just didn't know you loved them so much." She said with a little spite in her voice. Love. Make or break you, it could. It was a curse and a blessing. She shrugged it off and turned to pad away, waiting for an acceptance or refusal.

Despair narrowed her eyes.
"Speak all you want, walk all you like, but you understand nothing, Captain," She spat ungraciously. "You understand nothing of my siblings and I. So I would thank you to keep your opinions to yourself until you have a right and reason to judge us so." She growled.
"Calm, Des." Lethal murmured. The she-cat shot him a quick glare and then slowly rose to her paws. She was small, but shockingly graceful, even for one of her size. She brushed against her brother and whispered something in his ear. He nodded and then turned and blinked at Disaster. The she-cat nodded but said nothing, for once.
