Saviorsoul sat amongst the golden stalks and stared forward with an unreadable expression on his face. He had grown since he was an apprentice. His body was leaner, but he still had the thick build of a ThunderClanner. His ears were more proportionate to his head, and though his blue eyes still held clouds that spoke his blindness to any cat they seemed sharper somehow. But his heart was not so carefree as it had been back then, either. He sighed. Nightsky still hasn't returned... I feel terrible. I can't believe I was so insensitive. But what else could I have done? I don't love her that way. He sighed. He would never fully understand she-cats. He looked up into what he assumed was the sky and frowned. He could remember a little of what he had seen of her when they had fought together... she was beautiful, yes. But not... not the cat he would love. He wished things had been different. He wished that Nightsky had fallen in love with some other tom. Not him. Not useless old him. Saviorsoul sighed. Maybe they should have named me Shutyourmouth instead... that probably would have been better for me. He thought sullenly.

Ebonywood smiled as she bounded through the golden fields. The sun shone, the golden grasses waved in ripples of light like waves on the sea. It was a day any cat would love to see. She carried two plump rabbits in her mouth, golden-brown fur and white tails swaying with her every step. She scented Saviorsoul up ahead, and suddenly wished he might see the beautify of the day. It certainly was a great one. She sat down beside him, set her rabbits in front of her, and sighed. "Such a nice day to be alive, isn't it?" She said with a smile.

Saviorsoul of course didn't see Ebonywood but he smelled and heard her just fine. He said nothing as she approached and sat behind him, and was quiet a few moments after she'd spoken. His thoughts were so full of guilt he just wanted to sulk for a little while, but he supposed that was uncharacteristic of him. He should be the happy guy he always was... or at least seemed.
"Yeah, sure is." He said, smiling half-heartedly at her. It was hard to feel cheerful when Nightsky still hadn't returned...

"Ravennight told me Nightsky went to ThunderClan. He's gone after her, you know." Ebonywood said softly with a sigh. She then realized she had set her tail against Saviorsoul's shoulder. Embarrassed, she pulled it away and felt her cheeks burn. She was just some other cat to him, she was certain. She had no right to feel he'd be any more loving to her than anyone else.

Saviorsoul felt a prickle of warmth on his shoulder and turned as Ebonywood pulled her tail away from him. I guess it did feel nice... oh well... He thought, turning away and staring into the darkness that must have looked so much different to her.
"Yeah, I know he left. He told me. He also told me to stay here or I might cause trouble." The tom sighed. He treats me like a defenseless kit. I'm blind, not helpless!

"I got the same treatment." Ebonywood said with an unhappy sigh. Not being allowed to help her friend, frustrating! But she'd get over it eventually, right? Maybe. Ravennight got on her tail a lot though, acting like he could be Nightsky's Prince Charming. Grow up, she's not into you.

Saviorsoul sighed.
"It just too bad for him. He's off chasing her around when she'll probably never love him... He was somewhat angry at me and I can't blame him. I won Nightsky's affections somehow without even trying and though he tries he's never succeeded... at all." He meowed, laughing a little at his sometimes hair-brained brother. But Ravennight was honest and determined. If he couldn't win a she-cat's heart, he didn't know who could. But then I may be a bit biased. He thought, amused by the idea.

Ebonywood nodded, realizing that she was resting her tail on him again. But she didn't care. If he got mad, he'd let her know. Then she'd stop it. But otherwise... She felt herself blush deep red, her ears hot with embarrassment. But he couldn't see. Could he feel her emotions? She felt even more embarrassed by the thought, but tried to stifle it.

At first Ebonywood's tail was less noticeable, but he felt her grow warmer with embarrassment. The emotion prickled and irritated him slightly, but he didn't mind so much. Saviorsoul just sighed and wondered what she would say if she knew he could understand a bit of her emotions. I wonder if she realizes how warm she is...? He wondered absentmindedly.
"Do you think Otherstar was right? At the Gathering?" He asked suddenly, turning slightly to fix his eyes on the place he knew she would be, looking at him, too, probably. Or at her paws, judging her emotions...

Ebonywood looked up at him and nodded. "Of course. Why else would I have left home to come here? I don't want to waste my time for nothing." She said and looked away again. But it wasn't a waste. I met Ravennight, and Nightsky.... And Saviorsoul. She said with a vivid smile.

Saviorsoul nodded slightly, staring off and feeling an empty void in his heart. Ravennight isn't coming back. I can feel that somehow. I was always meant to be alone... He thought sadly.
"But are we truly purposeless if SilenceClan is gone? We have territory. We have a cause. Why should we cease to exist if our enemies are defeated? It seems... shortsighted to me. Maybe. Or maybe I do not understand as well as I'd like." He meowed, sighing. Somehow the thought of TrueClan ending was a happy one. He would get to go back to ThunderClan and his brother and sister. But it was also sad. How many of his new friends would he never speak to, feel, know again? Tempeststorm, Littlecloud, Ebonywood... He just couldn't bear to think of never seeing any of them again.

Ebonywood shrugged and pondered. He had a good point. "But we aren't a real Clan. Different traditions, territory out of the Clan boundaries. We aren't a real Clan, not truly. Neither is SilenceClan." Ebonywood said with another shrug. At least she felt comfortable, like herself, around Saviorsoul. He was a good friend to have.

Saviorsoul sighed softly.
"Yes... I suppose. But we've bonded so well. We've come together and our backgrounds have mixed so well, creating an all new Clan from all the old ones. Even the loners and the rouges and the kittypets have contributed. I cannot believe it will all end when this is over. I just can't believe that I'll have to leave all my friends here behind..." He meowed, turning slightly. He sighed.
"I've never been accepted before like I have here. I was always told in ThunderClan 'you can't' and 'you should' and 'you'll never be' but here it's like... I can do whatever I want to... be whatever I want to be. Instead of doubting me, everyone encourages me and pushes me forward. They tell me that I can. And that means more to me than any cat could ever imagine." He meowed softly, his eyes and voice filled with emotion. He didn't know why he was telling Ebonywood this. He just felt... she would listen. She would understand somehow.

Ebonywood sighed. "It must be hard." She said. But she realized how it had sounded and corrected herself. "Sorry, I mean you... I dunno." She said with a sigh. What did she mean?

Saviorsoul smiled.
"That's Ok. It is hard sometimes. But everyone has some obstacle in their life. For some it's just... more apparent than others. I'm lucky, in different ways. I know what my obstacle is, so I can fight it. Some cats have obstacles that are harder to see or fight. I think I'm perhaps a little better off. I'm fighting against something... more physical than emotion. Most other cats are the opposite." He meowed thoughtfully.

"Like me." Ebonywood said with a sigh. "I left my brother because I did a lot of stupid things that made me so unlikeable. Then I redeemed myself when I came here." She said with a sigh and realized that her life had been full of challenges. Saviorsoul had it easy compared to how her life seemed to go, she was sure.

Saviorsoul smiled.
"Well, I'm sort of glad that our obstacles brought us together. They only make one stronger, in my opinion, so it's nice to get a few other perks." He meowed, laughing and flicking Ebonywood on the shoulder with his tail tip playfully.
