Featherpaw padded slowly up toward Boulderstar's den with Rambutan and Lychee. "Wait, here." She meowed flicking her tail for them to stop. She walked in the entrance. "Boulderstar, may I speak with you?" The pale grey she-cat meowed quietly into the dark den.

Lychee nodded, turning to look at her sister. Rambutan scented the air, trying to find their brother, but caught nothing. WIth a sigh, she shook her head and turned back to her sister. The two awaited a visit from the so-called leader.

Boulderstar's head popped out of the den quite suddenly, his whiskers twitching and his eyes wide as he looked down at the young cats. He had scented something and when he saw the two kits he figured it had been them. Twoleg scent... Kittypets? he thought.
"What can I do for you, Featherpaw?" Boulderstar inquired, curious as to where these kits had come from and why they were here.

"This is Rambutan and Lychee, they..ah-would like to join the Clan while they look for their brother, Longan. I though it was best to come talk to you...Plus, someone needs to tell them the code. Who best but the leader." Featherpaw meowed, then looked down at her paws.

Lychee and her sister smiled brightly. She was very excited to learn interesting facts and history about the Clans. They were certainly a strange bunch of cats she had ever seen. And Rambutan sat twiddling her toes, sliding her claws in and out, acting as if that fascinated her.

Boulderstar looked down at the kits. They obviously were kittypets. He wondered if they'd have the strength to live the life of a Warrior. But then again, there was Firestar, who Boulderstar admired greatly for his non-Clan blood. Boulderstar was a half-Clan half-Rouge and he knew what it was like to be mistrusted for bad blood that was none of his doing. He smiled at the kits and nodded to Featherpaw.
"I see. You are most welcome to stay with us as long as you like. Has your brother come onto WindClan territory? If so we may be able to help you search for him." he meowed.

Lychee nodded with a smile. "He was following us last I remember. We were attacked by twolegs. You see, our mother didn't want her twolegs to know about us or we would be taken away. So she hid us in her garden, where we've lived since birth. Then the twolegs saw us and chased us. Then we lost Longan..." Lychee said sadly, looking down at her paws. She was quivering with sadness, her whiskers twitching impatiently. Rambutan smiled, stroking her sister. "My name is Rambutan, and this is Lychee. Our brother is Longan." She said with a friendly smile, glad that the leader would help them.

"I see, I'm not needed anymore." Featherpaw smiled backing away slowly to the nursery.

Boulderstar nodded to Featherpaw. He smiled down at the two kits.
"Those are very nice names. You do look somewhat familiar..." He meowed thoughtfully, frowning. The kits reminded him of someone. But who? He couldn't remember.
"Anyway, why don't we see you're settled into the nursery or apprentice's den? You can take your pick." He meowed, looking at them with caring blue eyes. He had never been treated nicely as a kit, and his mother had been a loyal WindClanner. She was my mother... and even she hated me. He thought sadly. He wanted to do whatever he could for these kits. If only to assure himself he was not acting as his mother and his Clan had. As everyone he'd ever met had.

Lychee frowned. "I don't know. You see, you Clans have a strange way of doing ages. We are still technically kittens, but we are seven months old. Which do you think best?" She asked with a frown. She didn't want to be trapped in a life oh herbs like Featherpaw the apprentice, and hoped that she may not have to do that horrible stuff to stay. Rambutan was quiet once again.

Boulderstar smiled.
"Then you're ready to become apprentices. I'll show you to the den. I'm sure one of the other young ones will show you around. I remember when I was an apprentice. Oh the trouble I got in." He meowed, smiling. It really hadn't been such a long time ago, really. He remembered all of his friends and he smiled as he stood.
"Follow me, then, and we can talk about finding your brother later, ok? For now you must rest and have something to eat." He meowed decisively.

Lychee nodded, standing and stretching. her sister followed exactly. The two waited for Boulderstar's command and lead to wherever he wished to take them. After all, what to do around the leader types? Lychee turned his words and all over in her head memorizing them. This was what a leader was to be like, no? She had to know this stuff to be Clanner, right?

Boulderstar smiled at them.
"This way." He meowed friendily. He padded out of his den towards the Apprentice's den. He saw several apprentices milling about, including one whose bright eyes were fixed on the kits that followed him.
"Jetpaw. Come here please." Boulderstar meowed. Jetpaw leaped onto his paws and darted over, his strangely-marked fur fluffed out.
"Yeah, Boulderstar?" He asked, dipping his head so that the clumsily-long fur on his head fell over his eyes. He blew it up and smiled widely, his eyes bright.
"Can you get Lychee and Rambutan settled into the Apprentice's den?" Boulderstar asked, though he already knew the answer.
"Totally!" Jetpaw mewed, beaming. Boulderstar wondered why the tom was so happy, but he figured someone must have brough the kits to Featherpaw...
"Good. Now why don't you two relax and get settled in and then come see me when you're ready, Ok? This is Jetpaw and you can go to him, as well, if you need anything." He gave Jetpaw a meaningful look and then turned and padded over to the senior warriors who had gathered at the base of Tallroot and were watching the happenings curiously. Jetpaw turned to watch his leader and then looked down at the kits.
"Hey. Glad to see you're feeling better. You hungry?' He asked, smiling disarmingly at them.

Rambtan nodded eagerly, but Lychee just shrugged. She was more eager about learning the Clan ways. Turning to the tom called Jetpaw, she smiled. "Tell me everything you know about the Clans." Lychee said with a scientific nod.

Jetpaw knew at once the sisters weren't exactly alike. He nodded and turned to Lychee.
"Ok. Just a sec." He darted with surprising speed over to the prey pile and selected a mouse that happened to have been caught near Fourtrees. That's not common around here, but it'll probably be closer to what they're used to. He thought. He carried it back and set it before the kits.
"Well there's some food for you." he turned to Lychee.
"So what do you want to know about the Clans?" He asked. He hoped when she said everything she didn't actually mean everything because he certainly didn't know everything.

Rambutan smiled gratefully, eating the mouse in a not-so-dainty or lady-like manner. Lychee smiled, eagerly sitting down and curling her tail around her paws. "Everything you know. History, present, everything." She said with a big grin, wanting to absorb the information like a sponge. Information made her happy, because she was like a scientist. She always needed information to turn over in her mind, and an argument to start. Then she could be truly happy.

Jetpaw sighed and closed his eyes, raising his muzzle slightly as he tried to recall the stories the Clan's elders had told him.
"Well," he said thoughtfully, "I guess the best place to start is how the Clans began. Although it's all pretty much legends and such passed down from the elders to the kits, and so on." He meowed, settling down and curling his paws beneath his chest. He had never told many stories, so he didn't know quite how.

"Sounds good to me." Lychee meowed eagerly, flicking her tail impatiently as she waited for Jetpaw to start. She wondered about these Clans, and was seriously puzzled by their ways. It seemed all 'apprentices' like Featherpaw ended in 'paw'. That was very interesting indeed. Did they do anything else similar to that naming way?

"Well," Jetpaw sighed, summoning his knoweldge, "Many, many seasons ago this forest was very empty of predators. They say that our ancestors, wild cats with no laws or valor to guide them, fought bitterly over the territories. They waged wars and one night many cats died. Their spirits returned to the living, and they told them that they had to unite or they would all die. So the cats began arguing over who was to be the leader. Four cats - Thunder, Wind, Shadow, and River - wanted to lead, and the starry spirits granted them all that privilege. They told them to go and gather cats like themselves and then return to the four oak trees and they would be rewarded with nine extra lives and the name 'star'. The four leaders did as the star cats asked, and when they returned they were named Lionstar, Shadowstar, Windstar, and Riverstar. They began the four Clans - ShadowClan, RiverClan, WindClan, and ThunderClan." Jetpaw meowed, almost lulling himself into a sort of daze as he recalled hearing the stories in the elder's den. WindClan had the deepest memories of all the Clans, and they were the closest to StarClan.
"The cats who died called themselves StarClan, and promised to watch over the Clans. They guided the first Medicine cat to the Moonstone, and have been our protectors ever since." He meowed.

[[You called Thunderstar, Lionstar... ?]]
Lychee nodded, finding it all amusing. "And of course, the Clans adopted the leaders' names. So much creativity there." She said sarcastically, purring. "So are all leaders 'star' then? And apprentices are 'paw', right?" She asked, beginning to understand the crude logic behind it all. But of course, they were only stories.
