Reminiscing. [/size] - Streakwater
- Prairiefoot
- Younger Days?
Badgerstripe had been through a lot lately. Streakwater woke up, they 'broke' up, and now he was alone. Nearing the badger sets in which he was named for, the black and white deputy sighed and lay down in the strong afternoon sun. Closing his eyes, his audits were covered in the yellow shine coming through his eyelids. Useless. He also thought of Prairiefoot. Would she ever like him again? And his younger days. Did he remember them anymore? Would he ever revisit them? In Dreams? He was dizzy. Questions are overrated. Were they! Ah, there he goes again! He decided to make his mind a blank white canvas, but soon paint splotches appeared on the canvas, and those splotches turned into people, and he wished them away. But paint is unerasable. The badger striped cat sat up. One particular femora he saw today entered his mind. Her name was Streamstone. She was awfully pretty. Maybe, maybe, maybe...she'd come to the badger sets, too?

The cat's black and grey and silver fur mingled well with the stones but not so well with the dirt that the badger sets were dug in. Still, Streamstone preferred the soft soil of the badger ets most of the time when she needed to think. Her pale blue eyes flashed as she turned to see a black and white tom sitting nearby. Badgerstripe. She had noticed him somewhat of late - he and Streakwater seemed to have fallen out and he seemed sad of the fact. Streamstone watched him for a few moments and then turned to go. She didn't want to bother him, though she might have been there first but she didn't care much.

Badgerstripe's head snapped over, hearing Streamstone's pawsteps. "Oh...Hi." He said, wondering why StarClan had granted him her presence. She seemed to be walking away, so he ran after her. "Wait up!" He called, hoping to maybe talk to her.

Streamstone heard his voice behind her and stopped, turning to look at him with calm blue eyes. She lifted her thick, feathery tail in greetings and gave a slight nod.
"Badgerstripe. What can I do for you?" She asked.

"....Nothing. I just wanted to..talk." He hadn't talked to very many cats since he and Streakwater had 'boke up'. He wondered how the kits had been taking it. They just reminded him of what happened, so he tried to veer away from them, although they were his own kids. "How ya been?"

Streamstone stared at him for a moment and then turned so that her shoulder was to him instead of her flank.
"I am as well as could be expected. How are you faring?" She inquired, lifting the whiskers above her eyes slightly.

"It's been a rough...life." He sighed. She probably knew everything about he and Streakwater, so he didn't go into specifics. "Preys been running nice, hmm?" He asked, hiding his real reason he was talking to her.

Streamstone studied his face for a few moments, then nodded.
"Yes, for Newleaf I suppose. Although the sort of prey I hunt is much more diferentiated." She meowed, looking up into the sky. She and Hawkflight often hunted eagles and other birds of prey, so she mostly hunted with him if not by herself. Though she wasn't liked by many cats so she preferred time on her own anyway. She looked at Badgerstripe closely and wondered privately why he really wanted to talk to her. Was he lonely?

Badgerstripe nodded. "I was never good at hunting rabbits. I'm not very quick. I don't belong in WindClan." He purred, kidding.

Streamstone frowned, not at all taking it as a joke.
"Catching rabbits is not what makes a WindClanner. It is the heart and the love of the open fields and skies. That is the truth behind common knowledge." She meowed. She had always taken such thoughts personally. Streamstone had been born in the mountains, and she was a larger she-cat, with broad shoulders and thick, long forelegs and shorter, stouter hind legs.

Badgerstripe nodded. "Very True. Very." Badgerstripe sighed. He was just being stupid. So, he sort of like Streamstone. Big deal, it wasn't as if she'd ever have feelings for him. Was he wasting her time?

Streamstone studied his face and her features softened.
"Look, if you really just want to talk let's take a seat." She padded over to a nice spot near one of the old badger sets and sat down. She patted the earth with her paw.
"Come on. Believe it or not I won't bite." She meowed with a slight smile.

He smiled. "I don't bite either. Well, there was that time..." He mrrrowed in amusement, his awkward joking features showing. sitting down next to her, he stared into the sun. "I wonder how, say, ShadowClanners do it. Away from the Sky, and sun and clouds and moon all the time..."

Streamstone sighed.
"I would sooner die than live in such misery. Give me the open air and fields rather than closed spaces and shadows. It's a tough life out here but way better." she meowed, nodding decisively.

"WindClan is the Clan of survivors." He purred, wondering how any tree enduced clan could possible live. "I'd feel trapped." He sighed and shook his head.

Streamstone nodded.
"Even cold stones show you all you must see. But trees hide things and cast chilled shadows upon the hearts of those who live beneath them." She half closed her eyes and sighed. Then she smiled.
"Well listen to me, sounding so poetic!" She scoffed. She hated when she started doing that. It was a habit she had picked up early on from an old... friend.

"Yes, you are so literate" He laughed. He truly was falling for this she-cat. He wondered what he was feeling...

Streamstone grinned a little at him. She looked so much more beautiful when she was smiling than when she was calm and unconcerned.
"Well thanks. I think." She mewed. She looked at him intently and then up into the sky. She saw a few birds fly by and her grin widened.
"They're truly magnificent, aren't they?" She asked softly.

"I wish I could fly. I know that sounds super werid, But I think it'd be so fun to be high in the sky, closer and closer to StarClan..." He looked up, daydreaming.

Streamstone's smile faded into a more sad grin.
"I don't think it's that wierd. I wish I could sometimes, too. I wish I could be free." She murmured, and her eyes fell to her paws. She used to be very ugly, with rounded, too large ears and a grotesquely swollen tail. Her eyes used to be too big, as well as her legs too short, and her body to small. But now she had filled out. Her legs were longer and her body longer, her ears were smaller and her tail had returned to as normal as it would ever be under the circumstances. Her fur, which had been streaked with strange markings, now was a muddled mixture of grey and silver and black. She truly looked incredible, even in the pale sunlight...
