Littlecloud sat staring down into the crystal depths of the pool. He and his fellow Medicine cat, Rubyshine, had been collecting herbs and he had a small pile of horsetail beside him. But his thoughts had floated away to Rubyshine, and the feelings he knew he had for her. Littlecloud didn't know what to do. It was one thing for him to have a forbidden love, but both he and Rubyshine were Medicine cats! That just made it all worse. He felt horrible and wonderful all at the same time, and his thoughts just confused him, as did his feelings. He sighed. Where did his love belong? Sealed inside of him or expressed to the one he desired? But he couldn't betray his oath to StarClan...

Rubyshine sighed. She didn't want to be collecting herbs right now. She'd rather be away from the cat she loved. It was hard to even be in the same den with him, everyday. she wanted so badly to confess everything to him, but she just couldn't. She was a loyal medicine cat! She felt so ashamed!

Littlecloud turned and looked at Rubyshine. She seemed a bit bummed. He blinked and then looked down at the water again.
"Hey, Rubyshine, wanna take a break with me?" He asked, turning back to her.

Rubyshine nodded. "I'm sick of digging up herbs." She mrrrowed in laughter, but then thought what she had said was stupid, so she shut up. Sighing, she nodded to Littlecloud. "Where to? Let's go someplace relaxing."

Littlecloud looked into the water and shrugged.
"If you wish to walk that's fine with me." He meowed gently. He preferred looking into the waters and resting, but personally he'd rather be with Rubyshine than anyone else.

Rubyshine sat down once more. "We can stay here. I like here, too." She felt so comfortable yet so ugly and sweaty around Littlecloud. She wished all these feelings would just...go away. Laying down, she rested her head on her paws, miserable.

Littlecloud turned and looked at her, feeling a bit miserable himself at the look on her face.
"What's wrong, Rubyshine? A Medicine cat with a bellyache or something?" He asked with an amused purr. He blinked and cocked his head to one side.

"Oh...no. I'm not sick. I'm just...thinking." she sighed. She wished she could tell him exactly what she was thinking about, but then her secret would be blown and he'd probably hate her for life.

Littlecloud looked at her and sighed.
"You can tell me anything, you know." He informed her, gently brushing her flank with his tail. He wanted to help her if he could.

Littlecloud tried not to wince. She had hit a little close to home.
"Yes..." he meowed quietly, "It is a troublesome feeling sometimes. One minute it makes you feel as light as air, the next it drags you about in the dust. Why? Are you having trouble with such things, as well?" He asked, somewhat amused. He knew he was probably being foolish, telling her all this, but he wanted to be honest with her.

Littlecloud sighed.
"Yeah. And she never even means to do anything. She probably doesn't feel the same way. And that makes everything so... uncomfortable." He meowed, hunching his shoulders.

"Really? Huh. I never realized eyes did that." He frowned slightly.
"And it's not like Rubyshine would ever really care about me that way anyway." He muttered. The tom froze. Oops. He thought, hoping she hadn't noticed...

She hadn't heard correctly. Was there herbs in her hears? She blinked. "Littlecloud....but...you feel that way? You are the cat I was...talking about!" She sighed. Her heart lifted, but she knew this was wrong, in so many ways!

Littlecloud's ears flattened against his skull. Oh crap. She did hear. But they came up again when she said that. So... s-she loved him, too? He was speechless. He didn't know whether to be happy or terrified or sad or angry or... he just didn't know what to feel period. Littlecloud looked down at his paws and felt his flesh warming uncomfortably.
"But... how... how could this happen?" He asked fitfully. He loved Rubyshine too much. He didn't want to lose her, but he knew he had to let her go. But I don't want to...
