The night was cool and crisp, a dark rumble parting the silence that held the two. Kinkfur held her breath, waiting, waiting... The lights flared, catching her like a deer in the headlights. She was being stupid again. But she hadn't seen him in two moons. Stupid, but she wanted to make sure he knew. It was scarcely a secret now though. She cast a nervous glance back behind her. The rumble of a large red monster echoed behind her, the wind from the rush nearly bowling her over. She gulped, wishing he would make it. She watched as he darted swiftly across the hard black earth. Not a monster in sight. But fortune could change easily, and talking chances was foolish. Luckily, she didn't have to take a chance.
Kinkfur remembered running across the hard black thunderpath. Terrifying. Recently, however, he had discovered a secret way to meet. A tunnel under the Thunderpath joining the two territories safely. Though damp, smelly and very sticky and dark, the path was a great way for Kinkfur and her mate to meet. It was also their ticket together forever if they wanted to escape. Not like she was disloyal though, and she probably never would leave ShadowClan. With a sigh, the she-cat slipped into the tunnel. He followed right behind her. Turning, Kinkfur hissed. "Coilsnake, the things we do for love." Coilsnake was Kinkfur's elder born brother, and he also had love in ThunderClan. He snorted indignantly and padded behind her, both cats holding their nose. Maybe soon enough Kinkfur and her mate could be together. Maybe Coilsnake and his mate, too. With a sigh, Kinkfur collapsed onto the sticky black water. She cramped again, and breathed heavily several times. Finally recovered, she continued. When she reached the slit in the tunnel, she stopped. The slit in the tunnel was a groove on the tunnel floor, a deep scratch that had been dug previous to its discovery. It was about half-way through the tunnel, and a perfect spot to meet in secrecy. Coilsnake sat down to wait, and Kinkfur lay down, breath coming heavy.

Hauntedshadow was woired because his mate did not come last moon, so he had thought something terrible wrong had happneed to her. He would ask her tonight why she hadn't come last time and only his sisters mate came. He was very exited because his sister was bearing hers and Coilsnakes kits right now because she couldn't risk moving without hurting the kits so she couldn't come( even though she wanted to come so badly) which he new would make a very sad yet happy Coilsnake. then he saw Kinkfur and Coilsnake coming towards him and he felt releife that his mate could come this moon.

Coilsnake scented Hauntedshadow, and his heart skipped a beat. His mate and his kits could be right in front of him! "Hauntedshadow? Icefire?" The tom called out with a vivid smile. He took a few steps forward, squeezing past his sister and smiling. Suddenly, as his eyes adjusted to the dark, he saw only one cat. "Wait, where's Icefire?" Coilsnake suddenly felt as if he were about to be run over by a twoleg monster. Bad news and the tom might just run up to the Thunderpath and let one take him now. Kinkfur moaned in agony.

Hauntedshadow could see the worry in Coilsnake's eyes. He decided to tell him what was going on. "Icefire is getting ready to have her kits so she couldn't come." He said sadly. He knew the bond between Coilsnake and Icefire was great. Hauntedshadow then looked at Kinkfur and noticed that she was in pain. He felt scared because he was not sure what was wrong with her.

Kinkfur listened as Coilsnake sighed, and she felt saddened for him. She knew how hard it had been to miss meeting Hauntedshadow last moon, and Coilsnake must've felt horrible knowing his mate was kitting without him. SUddenly, a painful contraction rippled through Kinkfur. Fear and pain and excitement surged through her all at once. The kits were coming! Then reality set in. "Kits are coming!" Was all she managed to say.

Hauntedshadow became excited and nervous at the same time. His kits were coming, and he was there to see it! Hauntedshadow decided he needed to help her get out of the tunnel and onto drier land. The tunnel was very wet, after all, and not a good kitting place.

Coilsnake knew exactly what the tom was thinking. The tom helped move Kinkfur onto the ShadowClan side, sheltered by some Toadstools. Kinkfur cried out in more pain, and Coilsnake sat down blankly. After all, it was common for queens to have a painful kitting. - The first kit came. He was tall and lengthy, a regular long tomkit. His fur was jet-black like his father's. The second was a she-cat that looked very similar to her mother, a spiky tortishell. The third was a brown and black she-kit with a very small, dainty build. Kinkfur smiled softly. "The tomkit is Towerkit, and the secondborn she-kit is Destinykit. The thirdborn is Toadkit." Kinkfur sighed, amazed at the beauty of her kits. Coilsnake also felt a glow of pride at his new kin.

Hauntedshadow was so happy his kits were born but he was sad because he wouldn't get to see them until the gathering when they could come many moons later or when they met in secert. He wanted to have at lest one of them to nurture up in thunder clan. But he new it have to be up to Kinkfur on what to do with the kits since she gave birth to them.

Kinkfur smiled down at her three kits. She felt a most motherly feeling, and she knew that no matter who their father was she would always love and cherish each one as a full member of ShadowClan, loyal and true. She glanced up at Hauntedshadow, and frowned slightly. She wouldn't see him for many moons, at least three or four, and his kits may never see him again until a Gathering. She couldn't drag them into this secretive meeting so young. She sighed, a parting gift might just be what she was to give. And her heart ached to think it, but he was a father and deserved to proudly watch his kits grow up as well. "Take Toadkit. Who knows when we may see each other again?" Kinkfur said sadly, passing the brown and black she-kit over to her father. She meowed weakly, but for the most part remained silent.

Hauntedshadow was thrilled he would get to care for a kit but he was sad that he couldn't do it with Kinfur. He told her that he would take care of Toadkit and have Icefire take care of her. He also said that when Toadkit was old enough he would tell her who her real mother was and he would give her the details on everthing. And with this he gave Kinfur a quick lick and soon he was off with Toadkit back to Thunder clan.

Kinkfur sighed as her mate spoke. She wished she would never have to tell her kits who her mate was. But it would be too dramatic. "Maybe it would be best if we waited..." She said with another sigh. But her mate had to be off, and so did she, so they went their separate ways. Coilsnake carried Towerkit, and Kinkfur stumbled along after him with Destinykit. She hoped Hauntedshadow would take good care of Toadkit. Not too far along, Kinkfur and Coilsnake stopped to suckle the kits and rest. They were very short distance from the tunnel and the Thunderpath.

Hauntedshadow went home knowing that KInkfur had great faith in him to take care of Toadkit and he made a promise that she would which he would NEVER break. When he got home he carried Toadkit to the queens den and told Icefire everthind that happened that night and he asked her that since she was getting ready to have kits if she would take care of Toadkit for H him and Kinkfur which she happly agreed to.

Kinkfur sighed, knowing that soon enough she would have to get back to camp. She tried to stand, and somewhat weakly began to stand. She wished she could have just had the kits in the camp, but it hadn't been that way. Coilsnake firmly grasped Towerkit in his jowls, and Kinkfur picked up Destinykit gingerly. The two began to trek back to ShadowClan camp.

Hauntedshadow went back to Thunderclan, and when we got back he went to his sister in the Queens den. So when he got there he saw Icefire with five beautiful kits, and when she saw him he asked if she would take care of Toadkit for him and Kinkfur. Which she happly said yes, which made Hauntedshadow thrilled. He new Icefier would make a faniastic mother and adoptive mother to Toadkit.

When Hauntedshadow came back from the hunting patrol, he was told to go to the Queens den. He was pusaled and he asked why. He was told to go because Icefire was having her kits right now, and she wanted him to be there for it. So he rushed to the queens den as fast as he could, and when he got ther she had already given birth to five healthy kits. He said they were really beutiful. She called One Whitekit, Forstkit, Greykit, Snakekit, and Ashkit.

Sandstorm watched the queen give birth in a quiet corner of the den. There ehr own three kits suckled softly, Leafkit, Squirrelkit and Firekit. She suddenly felt inclined to ask whom the father was. "Icefire, who is their father?" She said softly, sweetly, even though inside she felt a rage of betrayal from her own mate.

"Their fa-father?" Icefire asked. "Their father is um..." She didn't want to lie to the warrior but she didn't want her to know who her kits father was not yet! What could she do if she told Sandstorm then she would tell Firestar. So she decided to tell Sandstorm. "Their father," Icefire stamered, "is Coilsnake. You must not tell anyone. Please I beg of you dont tell anyone not even Firestar."

"You mean an other-Clanner?" Sandstorm gasped, awed. Then again, her kits were not necessarily all Clan blood either. Sandstorm shook her head, nodding. "I won't tell." But it was too late. Firestar had overheard, cming in to apologize once more to Sandstorm.
"You broke the rules, Icefire." He said sternly, looking at Sandstorm who suddenly seemed less ignorant of him. "Now you must accept the punishment."
