[[True... I feel like flash-forwards... Been watching too much lost.]]
The pool glistened mysteriously under the intense black. Two cats stood face-to-face. "I know you're sorry. Now forget everything..." The other nodded, falling into the deep black waters. As he emerged, something changed. He choked on the water, frantically searching for the surface. To a foreigner it might look as if he had gone willingly. But as he choked and lost his breath, a dark shadow darted back to the larger tom's side. "It is done." "So be it." He spoke softly. "So be it."
Canyonfur felt the jealousy and hate toward the tom brewing, but he capped it. No time for anger now, right? Now was a time to defend with your life the pretty she-cat whom was his love and now his life. He hoped Rootclaw watched him from StarClan, forever forgiving to what he had done. It would all be gone one day, little did the tom know. All the pain and hate, just gone...

One and a half moons later Mistrose sat with her paws tucked beneath her chest, basking in the warm glow of the Greenleaf sun. She would be happy - she normally would be. She had adapted to ShadowClan well thanks to Midnightsun's help, and everyone around her was beginning to accept her. She was well-fed, had friends and a place to call home... Mistrose hardly cared about Canyonfur anymore. She had to face facts: he was gone. But she knew she would never take a mate again. It was just the way things seemed to want to play out. But this new piece of news she had recieved... it sent chills up her spine. Especially because things weren't going well. She was showing signs too early - it could be any day now when she had only been expecting for almost two moons. They would hopefully be healthy, though. Mistrose sat Midnightsun carrying a raven over; it was their favorite prey and they often shared. He set it down and crouched down beside her, smiling. "So how are you feeling? Could be any day now, right?" By the excitement in his eyes Mistrose thought he could have been the father. But she loved Midnightsun like a brother, and she could never think of him romantically. She was pretty sure he was the same way. "Will they look like you?" He asked. "How should I know? Really, you toms can be so mouse-brained!" Mistrose exclaimed indignantly. Midnightsun slumped his shoulders and flicked his left ear; Mistrose had derived it was a sign of embarressment for him. "Sorry. So how soon?" He persisted. "I'm not sure. It could be any time now." She said, relaxing. Her eyelids drooped as she lazily flicked her tail. "Wow! It's going to be so great having little nephews and nieces!" He exclaimed with obvious delight. "You're going to spoil them rotten, aren't you?" Mistrose demanded dissaprovingly. "Only a little..." Midnightsun mewed, pouting. Mistrose suddenly tensed as pain flared through her body. She had been feeling odd ever since that morning; she knew why now. "The kits! They're coming! Oh I knew they'd be early..." She growled. Midnightsun was obviously starting to panic. He got so riled up about her and the kits. He helped her into the Nursery, where she had refused to sleep for the past moon. Curling up in a nest Midnightsun had thoughtfully prepared, Mistrose tried to keep a brave face for him. He left to get the Medicine cat and she was left to herself. Six hours later... Mistrose lay with her back against the log-wall of the nursery. She was looking affectionately down at three little kits. One - the firstborn - was a russet color, like his father. The secondborn - the only she-cat - was very white; a lighter shade than her mother's. The thirdborn was a small grey tom with dark, thin stripes. Midnightsun was sitting beside her, purring as he looked down at the kits. "Oh what are their names?" He asked excitedly. He was acting like a kit himself, but it only made Mistrose purr with happiness. "The red one is Rootkit, after... after his father's brother..." She meowed hesitantly. "The secondborn is Nectarkit... after my sister... and the thirdborn is Shallowkit." She mewed. "Any reason for the last one?" Midnightsun asked curiously. "No. I just have a feeling, you know?" She smiled.

[[The second-born was Ghostkit, remember? Changed!]]
Canyonfur had watched in horror through the past moon and a half. She was going to have kits - and they were most likely Midnightsun's. Even at their birth he was sick watching over her as he felt terrible about abandoning her. But she had probably forgotten him and his horrible, no-good love for her. So as the kits were born, he was shocked that the first one looked nearly identical to himself. Canyonfur listened as Mistrose told her new mate, as he suspected, Midnightsun, the kit's names.
As Canyonfur heard the first name, he frowned. After his father's brother? He wondered at the name. Then he wondered at the identity of the father. He had to know - and he would never bother Mistrose again. But who was the father? Canyonfur slipped into the Nursery and stood, proud and tall, placing Mistrose and the kits between him and Midnightsun. "I promised I'd never leave you. I'll go again, to watch silent and still, like I always have. But please tell me - who is their father?" The final sentence was emotionally choked up, and he was on the verge of letting his emotions overcome him. He'd tried so hard to keep them bottled up and not reveal himself, and now it was about to all go to waste. But he really needed to know. "Who is their father?"

OOC: Whoops! Thanks for changing that. Can he still hear or what...? I'm confuzzled.
BIC: Mistrose froze at the sound of a familiar voice. She turned slowly just as she heard Midnightsun hiss. Canyonfur was standing there, his expression causing her heart to break again. She wondered how much of it he wanted to claw apart. He probably wants to leave me with nothing left. But he'd have to hurt me a lot more to get close to that. She thought mutinously. But then she listened to his words. He's been here all the time? Huh, I guess I knew all along... She thought. She looked at Midnightsun, who was shifting uncomfortably.
"Could you excuse us a minute, Midnightsun?" She asked with a sigh.
"A-are you sure?" He looked concerned.
"Yes." Mistrose mewed. She leaned over and licked Rootkit's head. She listened as Midnightsun exited the nursery. She looked up at Canyonfur.
"So... you want to know who the father is. I'm insulted you even asked." She meowed bitterly, "I guess my last assumption was correct. But I'm not incapable of loving, Canyonfur. I never took another mate after you and I never will. These kits will be my only ones, and their yours, too, whether you'll accept that or not." She meowed, her gaze boring into Canyonfur as if trying to engulf him. She couldn't admit she had missed him - and yet she had. Once you loved someone, you could never forget them.

[[For the last time.]]
Canyonfur bowed his head in shame. "I love you more than the world." That was the last thing he would ever say. He would always regret leaving her the first and second times. He knew she was probably done with him, and would never want to see him again. He waited and watched her - he had become a more expert lip-reader while he could hear. He wanted to know Mistrose was done with him so that he would no longer feel guilty leaving her. He had to know she hated him. It would soften his blow.
Little did either of them know that soon the only thing Canyonfur would remember would be his kits and Mistrose...

[[Read my previous post...]] "I know where revenge last led me. But this time I can taste the savory sweet. They've all but forgotten about him, to be sure." A dark, menacing tom meowed as her lurked in the shadows, watching. "True. Are you sure, however, that you feel it right?" A softer, sweeter voice spoke up. "He has wronged me and many a cat. He must die, surely?" "True." The she-cat repeated, nodding. She stood proud and tall, her small four-moon-old body walking as if she were Leader, which she most certainly wanted to be. The tiny kit, a brilliant cream color with fierce green eyes, strode into the camp's Nursery. "Canyonfur, you are wanted." The tom, she noted, easily read her lips. Her father and great mentor had told her all about the fiery tom. Now she could first taste revenge. She watched as Canyonfur looked pleadingly at Mistrose, but walked silently with the little kit. - A dark, menacing pool of murky water glared menacingly up at the three cats. It glistened mysteriously under the intense black, the moon gone black and the stars covered in a cloudy mask. Two cats stood face-to-face. One had a small kit twined between his legs - the other did not look as dark and horrid as the first, but just as spooky. The redish tom who stood alone stroked the darker one, a hidden language, and he nodded. I am sorry. I am not the cat I once was. I'm changed. Please realize that - I can never express my sadness."My master realizes you are sorry." The she-kit spoke with a violent hiss. "I know you're sorry." The dark figure who guarded the kit spoke. "Now you must suffer as I did..." The fiery tom nodded, falling into the deep black waters. He choked on the water, frantically searching for the surface. To a foreigner it might look as if he had gone willingly. But as he choked and lost his breath, a dark shadow darted back to the larger tom's side. "It is done." The she-kit spoke. "So be it." The dark tom spoke softly. "So be it." If a bird Can learn to fly, Then certainly We can forgive. If only our Solemn, sorry world Could see that revenge Is a bird with broken wings. [[What happened is basically the little she-kit pushed Canyonfur into the water and he drowned. But don't think there's no hope - maybe even Midnightsun has the heart to rescue him...]]

OOC: Ooo sounds like a PLOTTWIST!
BIC: Mistrose stared at Canyonfur for a moment longer, assertaining his expression. Finally she looked down at her kits.
"I know, Cayonfur. If... if you're going to go, know that I will love you until the day I die, and longer. My kits will know what a great Warrior their father was." She said gently, giving Shallowkit a lick on the forehead.

Rootclaw smiled evilly as he walked back to camp with Lichenkit at his heels. "Part two will begin momentarily." He meowed to his 'daughter' and he approached the Nursery. Part two would not only effect Canyonfur, but his family and kits. It would also give Rootclaw another great apprentice to train, and give Lichenkit a friend. Not that she needed one, however. Lichenkit slipped into the Nursery. She looked crazed and panicked. "Canyonfur slipped into the pool where he was supposed to be met, and I think he's drowning!" She panted heavily, and then collapsed to the ground. While she had been preforming her part, Rootclaw looked at the kits with a wild thirst in his eyes. WHich one? He debated taking the one that looked like Canyonfur, not knowing it shared his name. But he decided to leave that painful memory of the dead cat they had loved, and so he quickly snatched up the snow-white kit and ran. He did not stop until he was much too much out of reach. Lichenkit continued to pretend she had fainted.

Mistrose had been sitting dozing when a small kit had launched herself into the nursery. Mistrose started awake, blinking. She leaped to her paws, the fur along her nape bristling.
"What!?" She yowled in horror. She rushed forward to help the little kit, panic biting at her heart.
Shallowkit sensed something was wrong. He sat very still. One. Two. Two very unfamiliar life sources. One. Two. Three. Three familiar ones. This was strange. He didn't like it. Shallowkit raised his little grey head and stretched his jaws open, letting out a pitiful squeak. His mother, though, was too upset to notice. Shallowkit rested his head on his paws and lay still once more. One. One unfamiliar life. One. Two. Two familiar ones. Where was his sister? Shallowkit crept forward inch by inch, paw-length by paw-length. He found Rootkit and curled up beside him, sharing the young kit's warmth. He let out a squeak, trying to warn his mother. But it was to no avail. Shallowkit concentrated. Nothing had changed. He could sense the life of Midnightsun somewhere around the nursery, but apparently not close enough to hear the ruckus. Shallowkit's surprisingly-keen mind would have appeared to have been working; he put two and two together. Nectarkit had been kitnapped!

[[Okay... so her birth name will be Nectarkit but she will be renamed by Rootclaw who doesn't know her real name and she'll become Ghostkit... Also, you'll probably need to save Canyonfur now!]]

OOC: Augh! Make up yer blinkin' mind already! (sorry just had to say that...) Anyway, Ok... But what can you do when a kit faints in front o' ye? I mean, do y'tend to the kit or run head o'er paws t'get to the alleged "beasty in peril". It's a no-win no-win situation, eh, mate. But hey, I'll humor ye.
BIC: Mistrose listened to the kit's warning and ran out of the nursery. Midnightsun looked at her, puzzled.
"Watch my kits, please!" She breathed. She sprinted to the pond indicated by the kit, hoping she would make it in time.
OOC: I'm confuzzled... I thought Rootclaw 'ad gone good. Wot's wit 'im, eh? (I'm practicing for a fanfic I'm writing, just so ya know). Why's 'e stealin' Misty's kit? Doesnae make sense t'me. Oh well, I s'pose we'll git t'that 'ventually.

[[Naw... He's still mad at Canyonfur - he's not letting it off easy. He prefers to just ruin anyone's life who ever cared for Canyonfur and make Canyonfur suffer... Becasue when he was murdered he went psycho. He's fun to play!]]
Lichenkit waited until Mistrose had gone, and then bolted out of the Nursery. She remembered where to meet her 'father' and soon had caught up to him and their new prize. She was slightly disappointed that he hadn't taken a tomkit, but that wasn't important. With a sigh, Lichenkit sat down and began to wash her frazzled fur.
-
Canyonfur struggled until he finally felt the heavy weight of death upon him. He fought but did not make it - losing his breath and swallowing water. His body bobbed on the surface, only his back clearly visible.

OOC: Don't forget Ravennight! XD
BIC: Mistrose saw a familiar red shape bobbing in the water. Horror pierced her being and she raced forward until her paws felt numb from the speed. She launched herself into the water, paddling furiously. She gripped Canyonfur's scruff in her jaws and kicked out with all her might towards the bank. She hauled him onto the grass and began licking him desperately.
"Canyonfur?" She squeaked in alarm.

[[xD Water is a solution for everything, no?]]
The tom coughed up water, gasping and choking. He tried to suck in air, but began to cough out more water. Some he had swallowed that had reached his stomach, some that had been trapped in his lungs. He tried to breath but it burned - his chest burned painfully. Up in StarClan, the little brown she-cat, Sweetpea, watched sadly as she knew her son could never again hear. She hoped her daughter Nightpaw, had gotten her message. Where am I? The tom tried to spoke, but only squeaked and made a strange noise.

Mistrose stared at Canyonfur, wide-eyed and filled with terror. He made a strange sound that reminded her of SilenceClan - when he would... Her jaw gaped open in horror. He's deaf again! She thought, mortified.
"C-Canyonfur? Canyonfur, can you understand me?" She asked, making sure he could clearly see her. She remembered the many times she had had to adjust her ways of speaking when around him.

Canyonfur blinked, as the she-cat before him was talking, but what was she saying? He shook his head, unable to hear or even think clearly.
As he did so, however, Nightpaw wandered blindly, of course, through the underbrush. She felt her paws carry her to the disputed territory between WindClan and ShadowClan, though she did not know where she was. Suddenly, she heard cats ahead. "Hello?" She called out curiously.

Mistrose began to panic, but before she could fully let fear set in she heard a quiet voice nearby. The she-cat stiffened, and then relaxed. She turned and saw a she-cat standing nearby. Somehow she recognized her, but Mistrose couldn't remember where she had met her before.
"Hello! Can you please help, he's... I'm..." Mistrose shook her head, confused. Was Canyonfur really deaf again? The thought horrified her. How could this have happened?

Nightsky nodded. "Not sure what I'm supposed to do, though, since I'm blind. But I can try. Name's Nightsky, by the way." Nightsky sniffed the tom who was clearly not in good shape. Under the scents of water, and ShadowClan, was a lingering scent that stank like SilenceClan. And a hint of TrueClan. Who was this tom?

Nightsky nodded, sniffing the tom. "So familiar..." She spoke mostly to herself. Whoever it was, she had probably known him from when she was a kit. But something about him was too hauntingly familiar... she couldn't let it go... "What is his name?" She finally asked, wanting to put an end to her misery.
