[[In this post, Streakwater debates life and death. In the end, she chooses life.]]
Streakwater stood on the edge of the Gorge, teetering, wanting to just... fall. Fall into a black nothingness, an eternal sleep. But there were three things keeping her from such. One - she would not want to condemn her kits. Two - she was still in love with Mountainfur. Three - she was falling in love with another cat, too.
Now if it had only been the second one, she would have jumped off then and there. Even the first two. She could be with the kits in StarClan, maybe, but she could not live with this confusing issue of love. But then there was the third reason... She was excited, almost, with the hope of a better life. A new love, a new life, and maybe she could forget the whole ordeal. So she stood, debating, on the edge, life and death only a breath away. And that's when she jumped. Back.

Badgerstripe followed his loves scent to the gorge. Oh, StarClan! he wailed inwardly, speeding to try to catch her before it was too late. He skirted to the gorge, and that's when he saw her ready to jump. "No!" He cried, digging his claws into the soft soil, sprining up roots long his path. Thrn she jumped. back. He sighed in relief, slowing a bit to catch breath. "Streakwater!" He panted, leaning into her. "Oh, Streakwater.."

"Look, I can't go on like this. I'm going crazy!" She wailed, collapsing to the ground. "The truth is, the only reason I didn't jump was because of you. I love you, Badgerstripe! But so does Prairiefoot. So please choose who you love more - and I might be able to chose life or death more easily." Streakwater knew that if he loved the latter, she'd jump. If he loved her, however, she would never think of suicide again. Because maybe, if he did love her, there might be some good in the world after all. And she wanted to find it.

Badgerstripes mind whirled Me and Prairiefoot could have so much...[.i] He debated carrfully. "I love... you, Streakwater." He breathed, smelling her sweet scent swirl in his mind. "Only you. always you." He tried to make it a happy sound, but his voice cracked with the truth of it all.

Streakwater was still unsure if he was being true, but she so wanted to believe him. So she did. "Oh, Badgerstripe!" She smiled, running up to him and nuzzling him. "I don't think Prairiefoot will take it well, but I think you just saved my life." She smiled brighter than ever before. Well, maybe not as bright as when Mountainfur had proclaimed his love when they were apprentices. That had been a great night. But this one was shaping up to be just as good.

Badgerstripe purred. "She's a strong cat. she'll find someone great one day." Nuzzling into her, he wondered how tortured Steakwater was inside. He was glad he was there, to help her cope. He would always hold a love for her, no matter what. He hoped she knew that...

[[Because I want to, okay?]]
Streakwater smiled, and then gasped. She collapsed to the ground. "Go...... get..... help.... something's wrong... with the....... kits!" And then Streakwater began to scream.

Prairiefoot was watching in silence behind a bush. "How can this be?" She told herself. I thought Badgerstripe loved me, but he was a fraud! She thought to herself angrily. Prairiefoot bit her lip as she choked back tears. She had crushed upon Badgerstripe her whole life and yet Streakwater had more mates and crushes than she could ever imagine! Badgerstripe was the only one Prairiefoot liked and loved. She would never turn her back on him, just like he did to her now. She then turned and sped away. "I'm sorry Badgerstripe, Windclan!" Prairiefoot cried and burst into tears. She was very fast, even though she had arthritis. "He probably doesn't love because I'm deformed! No ne will!" She screamed and stopped. She had reached a badger's den. The badger snarled at her, baring his teeth. "Come at me, kill me in the name of Starclan kill me!" Prairiefoot wailed. The badger leaped at her.

Badgerstripe heard distant screams, but he was to preoccupied with Streakwater. He screeched a ton of times, calling for help to anyone, everyone! "Help!" He cried, crouching next to his love. He cried again, and in a lower voice, said: "Everything will be fine, everything, I promise. I will let nothing happen to you." He knew panic was rippling off his pelt. He cried some more.

Prairiefoot closed her eyes as the badger lunged at her. But nothing happened. She opened one eye as she noticed the badger was chuckling to itself. "Hey, what's so funny? I didn't know badgers could laugh!" Prairiefoot hissed as she backed away. "You no be frightened cat, me name Midnight." The badger spoke. Prairiefoot's eyes widened as Midnight spoke to her. "Why aren't you going to kill me?!" She asked, bewildered that the badger could speak. "Me friend of clans, cats like you." Midnight spoke. "What your name?" She asked. Prairiefoot reluctantly spoke, "Prairefoot." "Ah!" Midnight replied. "Well, me come with grave news Prairiefoot, your friend Streakwater kitting now with Badgerstripe kits!" Midnight warned. "Streakwater is not my friend, nor will she be, and I'm through with Badgerstripe!" Prairiefoot groaned angrily. All at once, she heard distant wailing in the distance and cries for help. "That sounds like Badgerstripe!" She cautioned and raced to the rescue. She glanced behind her, but Midnight was gone. When she reached them she glanced down at the she-cat in pain. "Is she alright?" She asked.

Streakwater cried out again, and then collapsed into blackness. Her body shuddered into silence, a nothingness. Then, a kit was born. One moon early. Not due for a whole moon, and it had come. Streakwater gasped in pain, awakening from the darkness that had consumed her. She looked down at the kit, and gasped. White and black. Just like Badgerstripe. "It can't be." She murmured in disbelief, and then began to shriek again.
In total, six kits were born. Three she-cats and three tomcats. Streakwater licked the firstborn tom, who rested gently next to her. It was amazing - not expected. No, these were most definitely not Mountainfur's kits. They were Badgerstripe's. "This striped silver she-kit will be Stripekit. This white she-kit with the black foot and silver tail will be Silverkit. This blue-grey with the stripe will be Waterkit." Streakwater smiled at her mate. "It's a miracle all the kits were okay." She smiled, stroking the litter gently. "The firstborn is Badgerkit. the second-born tom will be Stonekit, the one with marks like yours only silver. The fourth-born, tom, with a pure black body, will be Shadowkit." She smiled, stroking them with her tail a second time. "We need to get back to WindClan." She meowed gently.

Badgerstripe was a father, a proud father! He puffed his chest out. He knew Badgerkit would be a great warrior, as would all the rest. He glanced shyly at Prairiefoot. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "But me and Streakwater were.. meant to be." He glanced at his mate, licking the kits. He picked up Badgerkit delicately in his jaws. "Prairefoot, can you carry back Stripekit? Streakwater, stay here with the kits, will pick them all up after we drop off These two with the Clan." He purred at his mate. "Badgerkit, Waterkit, Shadowkit, Stripekit, Silverkit, and Stonekit." He said them all proudly, as he was so proud to be these six kits father. Six kits! He was overjoyed. ((Okay... I wanna rp... Waterkit and Stonekit... You can have the rest, or we can put one or two up for adoption.... Let's say all the kits have been picked up. We can continue this in WindClan camp, and let Mountainfur know ))

[[Since I play Mountainfur... He knows! xD]]
Streakwater nodded, smiling at her mate. She did not want to hurt Prairiefoot, but they were meant to be. She hoped Prairiefoot would find someone special too. Glancing down at the kits, she smiled again. So peaceful. All was right.
