Passion hadn't been out in a while, not since her kits were born. Sunkit and Moonkit were accelerating fast. They already seemed to old for the Nursery, although they were only four moons old. She finally had a chance to get away, while Authentic, the nice Siamese, watched over them.
She stretched and sniffed around. She wished her mate, Tiger was here. She wondered where he was.

The dark tabby sat with his tail curled over his forepaws, his eyes closed. He was reflecting, meditating on the events of the past few moons. It was a habit he had formed when he crossed over the mountains. Tiger opened his eyes and stared blankly out into the forest. She was on his mind again. He gritted his teeth. How things would have been different if only... He closed his eyes as Passion's scent overwhelmed him. He couldn't deny he loved her. But still... sometimes when he woke up from a dream where her scent had been all around him, and her voice in his ear... He felt his tail quiver. It was so hard. He sighed softly and turned to see his mate sitting in the midst of the black pit. He feared calling to her. She might know he was in a bad state. Tiger closed his eyes and drew a deep breath. It calmed him. He smiled to himself.
"Sometimes I make myself quite jumpy." He reflected, leaping down to pad to his mate's side.
"Hey, Passion," he meowed casually, but his eyes shone as he looked at her.

Passion turned around and purred at her mates sight. But something was a little. She padded up to him, her eyes a little wary. "Tiger, what exactly is wrong?" She asked worriedly, her eyes soft and caring. She had worried about him often, his eyes were always somewhere else and his mind was far away...

Tiger smiled but he turned his face away and tried to look amused.
"Really, Passion," he meowed, "On a day like this, who could be gloomy?" He smiled widely and let out a soft mrrow of laughter. But inside a voice was raging... screaming... Me... I can be gloomy... I can be regretful... oh Passion, I love you, but... it still hurts... to see her eyes reflected in yours...

Passion flicked her tail; his pain was like a wildfire in front of her eyes. He was burning inside. Great. He was thinking of her again. There wasn't one moment she didn't think of JD, but at least she didn't let it prickle her pelt like that. "Have your regrets," she muttered, her crimson fur flaming in the sun. She stalked off in the way of her camp, her ears back and her eyes ablaze.

Tiger stared after Passion, his eyes wide. Had she sensed what he was thinking? He sighed. It was hard to forget, but he had to put the past behind him. He could remember, but letting it ruin his day was probably not going to get on well. He darted after Passion, his eyes now portraying the gloom he felt. Except now he was just berating himself for making Passion angry.
"Hey, Passion, wait up!" He yowled at her, stumbling accidently over a rock in his haste. He caught himself before he collasped, but he had to stop and regain his balance before running again.

Passion stopped, her fur tingling. Was he going to tell her that he didn't love her anymore? She bristled, waiting for the clumsy furball to catch up. She watched, unimpressed, as he tripped over a rock. As hard as she tried to push it away, a small smile crept across her face.

Tiger finally caught up to her and smiled weakly.
"I'm sorry, I'm such a stupid furball. I didn't mean to upset you. I'll be happy now." He said breathlessly.

"Happiness is not given like that." Her brow furrowed. Did he think she was that easy? "It progresses over time. I should change myself, I remind you of her so much. Or maybe you should stay away from me. I can take the kits. I can be a loner again." She recalled the time she met Authentic, Angel, Shutterfly, and Tiger. They had saved Shutterfly's kits from SilenceClan. She didn't know why that memory sparked but... it did.

Tiger frowned.
"No, don't go anyway, Passion. I don't want you to change, and I love you. I'm just letting this time of year get to me. Please don't think you did anything wrong. As I said, I'm just a stupid furball." He muttered. It had been around this time of year when Ginger had died. He had always gotten sulky before, but now it apparently a habit that needed changing. Being alone had its perks sometimes, but then again he'd rather be with Passion that by himself moping all the time.

Passion sighed. "I understand. I think of JD a lot. He died in Leaf-bare though. I try not to let it get to me." She purred and padded up to her mate, burrying her muzzle into his fur.
((Sorry it's so short...))

Tiger smiled slightly. They'd both been through a lot. He wished he could be as unemotion about it as Passion. She kept her feelings inside, he got irritated and gloomy. Tiger wished he could tell her everything; about his home, his parents, his kithood, and how he had lost the name he had earned for himself when everything fell. He remembered standing at the head of a great band of cats, his fur shining as he yowled a challenge to the enemy lines. His Clanmates, all willing to follow their leader to death...

Passion stepped back. "Something you need to tell me?" She asked. She knew it was odd, to know what others were thinking, but she knew Tiger so well- His mind was easy to read. But, she didn't know him too well....

Tiger shook his head and laughed softly.
"You know me too well, Passion. But it's really nothing. Old memories... past mistakes... sometimes you just want to tell someone instead of keep it all bottled up inside." He sighed.

Passion snorted. "Secrecy can be known as a sin, Tiger." She retorted. Her eyes softened. "Tell me. You can tell me anything, you know." She sighed. Why was he so complicated lately? she wasn't a huge fan of cats like that. She didn't want him to become like that.

He laughed.
"Well, I don't know about sins but... I suppose I've had my share of them." He looked up into the sky and sighed.
"I didn't always go by just Tiger. My mother first called me Tigerkit... and then when I became an apprentice, I was called Tigerray. And as a Warrior I was known as Tigerfang. Back then I was very respected and many cats admired me. I became deputy and then leader of my Clan... PrairieClan. I was called Tigersun, and given nine lives. I lost five of them in the wars that raged between the four Clans. I don't know if I still have more than one life. My Clan fell to ruins around me. We'd always been the weaker Clan, and eventually the three others... GrassClan, HillClan, and BoulderClan... drove us apart, killing most of my friends and family. My sister, Angelray as she had been known, was taken long before this. I had met a kittypet called Ginger in my patrols, and when I lost everything I went exploring with her. I don't know if anything ever happened to my... my mate, back in PrairieClan... and my two kits. They were so young..." He closed his eyes and shook his head. He had never loved Widesky like he loved Passion or Ginger. But she had always been beside him, and had been the obvious choice for a mate. His kits, Larkkit and Rainkit, had escaped with Widesky across the prairies when the wars had gotten bad. Tiger had never seen them again.
"I guess I just think about my family and friends, back there... sometimes... I wish I could have been a better leader for them." He sighed.
