Alone (Tempeststorm)

Dragonstar angled his head at his mate. "You know, I've known you long enough to know you're overcompensating for something." he meowed with a smile. "But I'm sure you have a lot you're thinking about. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a mother! How amazing." he meowed with a smile. "You know you can talk to me about anything, right?" he asked, his eyes wide and innocent with sincerity.

Tempeststorm stared at Dragonstar for a moment, then sighed, staring down so that her eyes did not meet his.

"Yes, I know," She whispered softly. Somehow, though, it seemed like a one-way deal. He wasn't being honest with her about something, and she knew it. Now it was only bothering her to the point of having an actual physical itch behind her ear. She lifted a paw and scratched at it impaitently, then sighed.

Dragonstar's eyes clouded with uncertainty. "Look...I know...I might not be the best father. I just...I don't know how to do a lot of things. I don't know how things are supposed to be or how they're supposed to work. I've had to create all of that in my mind. No one ever taught me anything normal." he gave a frustrated sigh. "All I've ever been taught is how things aren't supposed to work."

Tempeststorm watched his face with a serene expression. Oh, so that was it. She shook her head and smiled slightly at him.

"You don't need examples and leasons to be a good father, mouse-brain. You only need to love our kits. And I know you will." She meowed, purring and nuzzling him gently.

"Besides," she whispered, "I can teach you whatever you don't know."

Dragonstar felt his throat tighten with emotion. He leaned into her, and realized that if he were to fall in any way, she would catch him. He realized for the first time in his life, that he actually felt safe with someone else. And, he realized how incredibly beautiful that was. He closed his eyes and just let himself feel everything that he was feeling, and knew that his cause was just. No matter how powerful the evil emotions in the Silenceclan camp were, none were as powerful as love.

Tempeststorm sighed softly and stared off into the horizon. Her calm dark gaze rested for a moment on the dark outline of trees, but finally she just closed her eyes and smiled to herself. Life was so much better now that she was with Dragonstar. She would never have imagined coming to TrueClan would have had such an effect on her life. She had never felt so whole before, so complete. It was a nice feeling, having someone beside her who loved her so much... It gave Tempeststorm hope for the future. Hope for her kits.

Dragonstar glimpsed at the clouds in the sky, and the weight of his burdens and a small sense of foreboding came to him. "A storm is coming." he meowed with a deeper insight. "Things are going to get tough." his eyes slowly panned to her. He was going to ask her if she was ready, but he knew that she was. He knew that she had already made her choice to stand beside him. "If things get bad, will you promise me to take the kits and get out of here?" he asked the difficult question with some stammers.

Tempeststorm looked intently at Dragonstar. What he asked of her was almost too much -abandoning him just because things looked bleak- but she knew he needed her to promise this to him. Tempeststorm swallowed all of her feelings of pride and love and nodded slightly.

"If the dangers is too great... I will. But only if I have to." She meowed firmly.

Dragonstar placed his forehead against Tempeststorm's. "Thank you." he meowed full heartedly. He smiled, slightly turning his head side to side with a little laugh. "I love you." he whispered.

Tempeststorm smiled back, though it pained her to think of being seperated from her mate for any reason. She gave a soft sigh.

"I love you, as well..." She murmured.
