Ebonytail frowned. "Who?" She asked, whipping around to see a black tom. "Where am I?" she asked, confused.
-
Fallingfeather padded silently into camp, sneaking into the nursery. After a short chat, she slipped back out and left the kits be. She followed her scent back to the group coming she had seen previous. She kept her distance, constantly distracted by the flash of a white pelt. But when she recognized two of the patrol's cats, she could not help but smile. So confidently, she padded in front of the cats. She was close enough to run and sound an alarm call if need be. "Hello Canyonpaw, Mistpaw. I see you have caught some intruders. So glad you could bring them to us." She smiled at the two run-away apprentices. She waited for a reply.

Oh foxdung! Mistpaw thought. She had hoped to go unnoticed. Their plan had been to go into the camp and find Ashfire's brother, but then Ebonytail had gotten herself caught... Mistpaw cursed under her breath. This wasn't going well at all.
"Oh well, you know. Intruders." Mistpaw meowed, shaking her head and hissing, faking irritation pretty well.
Raven stared at her in confusion.
"Oh, sorry. I... I don't remember anything very well. I thought..." He turned away, heartbroken. So he really didn't remember this she-cat at all. He didn't remember anything. Raven's shoulders slumped and his whiskers drooped while his tail hung limply. Why did he think he recognized her, anyway? He'd never seen her before, and she obviously didn't know him. He sat Mistpaw and his ears perked up and his eyes shone.
"Mistpaw!" He exclaimed, rushing over and nuzzling her affectionately. Mistpaw turned and gave him a hesitant smile.
"Hey, there, Raven." She meowed, but something underneath her tone made Raven nervous.
"Where have you been?" He demanded.
"Canyonpaw and I went on a scouting mission into TrueClan territory, to learn a bit about the lay of the land. Didn't find much, unfourtunately, before some cats chased us off." She muttered crossly. Raven nodded.
"TrueClanners." He hissed. In truth, he knew nothing of them. But still, from what he'd been told they were disgusting idiots that deserved to be clawed.
"Well, do you want to come hunting with us, Raven...?" Mistpaw asked casually. He saw her eyes avert to the intruder she had apparently captured, and he smiled.
"Sure!"

Fallingfeather smiled slyly. Perfect. Rat out the two lying intruders and all be well. She looked at the cat who had been captured. "Captured? Hah! You volunteered your services!" She spat at the two cats. Of course trust was slim. Fallingfeather grabbed Ebonytail and dragged her to the entrance of the camp. "Now you go and tell your little leader that we've caught all of them. Mistpaw and Canyonpaw brought them graciously, as spies, please. Emphasize that." She shoved Ebonytail away, and the dark brown she-cat bolted straight back to TrueClan to share the news. "And also, we've got some new arrivals. And I don't mean you, either, Mistpaw. Nor your little friend here. I mean Angel's-kit and Devil's-kit." The names were terrible, stupid and just plain idiotic. Never before named. Angel's-kit. Devil's-kit. But such was Fallingfeather. "So please be eve so kind as to say hello. They are your RiverClan friends, of course."

Mistpaw stiffened. She threw a glance at the border of the camp, and instantly some shadows flickered and dissapeared. Foxdung, foxdung, foxdung... She thought crossly. She stared coolly at Fallingfeather, though, no showing any emotion on her face that gave away her fear.
"My RiverClan friends? Hmph. A few days away on a top secret mission for Cresentscar and they treat you like outsiders. Psst. Some teamwork this Clan has. It almost makes me miss those pathetic weaklings in WindClan. Almost." She snapped impaitently. She hoped she had given Saviorpaw, Hollyleaf, and Ashfire some time to get to a safer location. They were safe, for now. And Ebonytail was free, too, apparently... so the only ones in immediate danger were Canyonpaw, herself, and Raven. But the idiotic look on the black cat's face said it all.
"What's going on?" He asked, confused. Mistpaw hissed.
"Huh, don't ask me. I've been gone a few days. Just ask Crescentscar, he'll tell ya why we went. Sheesh." She muttered. A black shape suddenly seemed to emerge from the crowd of onlookers.
"Crescentscar is dead." Fade meowed indifferently.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Mistpaw meowed, her voice cracking a little. Crescentscar had been the closest thing to a friend she had had in SilenceClan for most of her life. She bowed her head slightly and sighed.
"He was a good Warrior." She whispered.
"Why would Mistpaw and Canyonpaw be..." Raven's voice trailed away as two figures were dragged into camp. The first was a slender tom with a tortoiseshell pelt, his pale blue eyes alight as he struggled every pawstep of the way, blood dripping down his face. Beside him walked a beautiful grey she-cat with pale amber eyes. They were brought before Fallingfeather, and a hush fell over all the cats around them as Raven and the grey she-cat stood almost a tail-length from each other. Their eyes were wide as they gazed at each other. They were like a reflection; Raven looked real with his black fur and dark eyes, while the she-cat seemed a dim mirror, with her ashen grey pelt and faded amber eyes. But one thing was apparent about all three of the cats. They were related.
"Nightpaw..." The she-cat breathed. Raven's eyes widened.
"W-what did you call me?" He asked breathlessly.
"It's been some time, Nightpaw." The tortoiseshell meowed gravely. Raven took a step forward and his heart fluttered in his chest.
"Ashpaw! Saviorpaw!"

Fallingfeather hissed and spat, turning away. Honestly, these 'happy reunions' made her sick. For a brief moment, so brief it was like a flicker in a fire, she remembered. Remembered warm mornings as a kit, playing with her sister. Cold afternoons, as an apprentice, snuggling together with her brother. Perfect sunsets with her siblings... But the feelings of love and appreciation flickered away instantly, as if it had not even occurred. Because she could not, would not, will herself to remember. Or else she would remember the day when she was proved, for the first true time, to belong in SilenceClan. And then she would feel pain. And that was something that made weakness. So she was silent, as she thought instead to the two kits, who were not actually from RiverClan. That, at least, was not equal to weakness. "Very nice, all of you. Take them to see Shadowstar." Fallingfeather told several warriors, before vanishing out into the territory.

The blue-grey she-cat stayed close to Ashfire in this strange clan. "I don't like it here."

Canyonpaw flicked his tail in irritation. Great StarClan, if TrueCan hears about this, we'll be mouse bile in no time! He shook his head, trying to concentrate. StarClan keeps bringing me back here. What is the significance of this place? What did Rootpaw teach you? Rootpaw. The word felt strange, hollow, unfamiliar. And it made Canyonpaw's heart stop, and ache. He felt so guilty, so unhappy. So despaired. Something here they want me to see? He asked himself, and sighed. This was so much harder than he had expected.

Ashfire cursed herself for bringing anyone else into this mess. Now they were all in big trouble, and there was nothing any of them could do about it. Her mind clicked as she tried to come up with something, the whiskers above her eyes furrowed in concentration. She hissed under her breath. This wasn't good.
"What's happening?" Nightpaw asked, turning to her with confusion in his dark amber eyes.
"It would seem that we're all in a lot of trouble right now." She muttered. Mistpaw turned slightly and fixed her with her pale blue eyes.
"Don't worry. StarClan will help us find our way home." She whispered so quietly no one but the prisoners could hear her. Ashfire felt a little hope rise up in her chest at that.
"Well, let's get on with it, then." Saviorpaw hissed at one of the cats nearby.

"Ashfire, what if Bluestar finds out? She will banish us or something." Hollyleaf whispered to her friend.

"Yeah, but that's if we make it out of here." Ashfire muttered under her breath. True, if Bluestar did find out they would be in for trouble. But it wasn't like they were bound to ThunderClan. She knew that she could belong anywhere, even on her own. Ashfire knew she could never leave ThunderClan on her own, but if she were forced to she would make her own way.

Well, this is just lovely. Canyonpaw sighed. But why are we just sitting here? When I have a plan! Flicking Mistpaw, Canyonpaw eyed the nearest exit. He hoped the could understand him enough to follow his lead. With that, he did the most foolish thing he could think of. Turning, he bolted. And he did not stop running for a long while.

Hollyleaf looked up at the dark sky. She was missing Mountianfur more and more. She really wanted to go home and be with him. Especially, now that she really wasn't feeling very well.

Canyonpaw turned and looked back, no one seemed to have followed him. Drat! If ever I was with a band of stupid cats... Then he remembered Mistpaw. Well, I can't just leave her there. He thought with a sigh. Turning, he pelted back to where the group was. And then it happened. The voices began to slow down,or to speed up, he couldn't tell. Time became what felt like a spinning top, vibrating and shaking. And as it all did so, Canyonpaw was overcome with a sense of peace and assurance. Because somehow, for the first time, he felt true love. He was in love with Mistpaw, he'd always known. But never consciously had he admitted it. And as he now stood, he knew exactly what he had to do. He was in love, and he could love, and he wasn't cold nor cruel. He would stop this Clan, stop Fallingfeather and Shadowstar and the others. And he would start by saving his love, Mistpaw. With that one thought, I love Mistpaw, he spoke. "RUN!" He shrieked, grasping Mistpaw's scruff and yanking her a few yards. He released, hoping she got the message, and next grabbed Hollyleaf's tail. By that point, he no longer paid much attention. He only ran, hoping that by dragging two of the cats they would all follow. He ran hard, not thinking at all about what had happened. Just about escaping the danger of SilenceClan, and by saving his love, Mistpaw. She was all that mattered now.

Hollyleaf ran fast after Canyonpaw and Mistpaw. "Come on, Ashfire, Run!" She meowed.

Mistpaw had been too preoccupied to notice Canyonpaw's signal. When he pelted off, she started and stared after him with wide eyes. Her heart froze. Was her closest and dearest friend abandoning her? Mistpaw felt her spirits plummet. No one had noticed Canyonpaw's bolt, so when he came back it was only Mistpaw who knew he had left in the first place. Her spirits soared once again at seeing his face, and she felt her heartbeat quicken. He hadn't left her, after all! Suddenly a strong voice, a soothing one that instantly calmed Mistpaw, called out "Run!" and Canyonpaw began to drag her towards the exit. She turned as soon as he had released her and did as he had said, her brain almost short-circuting. Had he really and truly spoken? She heard Ashfire and Saviorpaw's breathing behind her, and she turned to see them pelting along. She was almost surprised to see the black fur and wild amber eyes of Rave- Nightpaw as he raced after his siblings.

Canyonpaw skidded to a halt and darted into some thorns for safety. He glanced around at his friends. "We must find shelter." He said, looking for a spot to stay. It had to be secret, hard to reach, yet easy to flee if necessary. He only hoped to find such a space. There was nothing for what he saw, nothing for a long way. "Follow me. Stay low." His voice was strong, penetrating. It was the voice of a leader, and it was both commanding and gentle. Like a drum beat against the softness of a pale spring sky. He crawled low across the grasses until he reached a low-hanging tree. He surveyed the branches, wondering if he could make it. If it would be safe. His answer was yes. "Stay the night in the tree. Go as high as you can."

Hollyleaf padded up to then. "Cayonpaw, I don't think I can clime up there...I-I haven't been feeling well lately." She meowed exhausted, she fell to her belly off her paws. "I-I'll sleep down here. You guys can sleep up the tree..."

Saviorpaw followed Canyonpaw easily, listening to the gently threading of the paws before him. He knew that they, as nimble young cats, would easily outrun the bigger SilenceClan cats. Still, he couldn't help but feel nervous, even when they managed to cross the border and find a place to hide. Saviorpaw turned to listen to Canyonpaw, his ears pricked. He could feel different emotions in the group around him. Mistpaw's pelt simmered with wonder at her friend's sudden ability to speak, and Ashfire was warm with some critical thought about herself, most likely. Nightpaw had a calm, serene mask that even Saviorpaw's keen perception could not penetrate. It annoyed him slightly. The only two that remained a complete mystery in every aspect were Canyonpaw and Hollyleaf. Something about the she-cat unnerved Saviorpaw, and he couldn't imagine what was happening to her to make him feel like that around her.
"What seems to be the problem?" He asked gently, sitting down next to her and sniffing her a little. She had a strange scent, one that instantly reminded him of something... Saviorpaw's eyes widened and he pricked his ears. Could it be? He blinked.
"Hmm..." He murmured to himself, a shadow passing over his eyes. He turned slightly to throw the others a look. They were all sitting there watching him.
"Why don't you all go up the tree?" He hissed through his teeth. They started, but nodded and at once obeyed. Saviorpaw turned to Hollyleaf, and listened to her breathing calmly.
"Please tell me what's ailing you, Hollyleaf. I know a little bit about medicine. Perhaps I can help you." He murmured gently.
