Smudge shook. No return? I'm looking for my mate, Hattie, and our kits." He said in the strongest voice he could find. Maybe this Jua could help him? Millie had just ruined everything, so Jua could be his helper. He desperately needed help, he realized, if he was going to traverse the place of 'no return.'

Jua laughed another hearty laugh and then sighed, sitting down and motioning for Smudge to do the same.
"I saw her. Tried charming her I did. She's the prettiest lady I ever laid eyes on. She told me she'd send her strong mate after me if I tried anything funny. Hah, looks like she's either blind or dumb now, eh? But serious, you aren't a fighter." He admitted, thinking of his mate and kits back home. Obviously he had to remember that he had a lady too. But she wasn't as pretty as that Sandy-whateverhername or Hattie. And now it seemed that his jealousy might just get him into trouble again.
"But no, don't know her whereabouts now."

Disappointment took over his eyes. He tried...with my Hattie? He blinked a few times, and shook his head.
"Your a smart one, Jua. I am not a fighter. Do you know anyone that might now where Hattie is? Besides Millie?" He said her name angrily, with a passion.

"Millie? How can anyone hate that kind thing. She saved Hattie's life, and you owe her big time. Hattie was dying and Millie helped both deliver the kits, find a good shelter, and do all of Hattie's hunting." Jua said, obviously not very happy that Smudge didn't care for Millie. Everyone in the area loved Millie to death, and this was the first cat he had met to think otherwise.

"She yelled at two of my friends and questioned their abilities and made them both turn tail and go home." Smudge said blandly. Poor Mist and Kyle. Would they be able to make it back safely?

"Millie? No, you've got the wrong cat mister. Millie is as innocent as a bird on the wind. Believe me, I've met her once or twice." Jua said with a strange hint of something in the corners of his eyes.
"And I do know one cat who can help but... Turning down Millie won't bode well in her books." He said with a frown, knowing that if anyone could give a cat what for it was Livvi.

"Unless an imposter just led us here, than it was Millie. She was pretty harsh. But whatever." Smudge looked down. "Can you lead me to this cat? I need to find Hattie."

"Don't be a fool, Smudge. I can ask my mate if you don't mind waiting another hour? She won't kill you, that's for sure." Jua said, his eyes filled with a strange misty emotion that was hard to read. It looked like it could be anything, a strange range of emotion that kept swirling and changing as he thought about his mistakes and what his future held.

"Is Livvi closer? Please. I need to find Hattie as soon as possible, Jua." Smudge said in a quiet desperation. He couldn't sit here for an hour just waiting. He had to find her. Now.

"If you insist..." Jua said, a little worried. "She's closer, and more dangerous. About a half-hour away..." He added, frowning at the foolish Smudge. But Jua had to wonder what he'd do for Panya. And he understood why this Smudge was so worried about his poor mate. Jua felt bad for the guy.

Smudge nodded and blinked. "Let's go." He said in a haste, eyes darting from Jua to the bordering forest. He was happy he found Jua-he could've died out here, alone.

"Okay..." Jua said slightly nervous, turning and padding quickly after the place he knew he'd find Livvi. It was some time later that he found himself in a dark alleyway, and he began to feel worried that Livvi might actually be here. He stopped and nodded to Smudge.
"She's here somewhere. Want me to stay or are you okay?" He asked with a strange shrug.

Smudge blinked at narrowed his eyes, studying the alley. Knocked over silver things blocked half of the path, a smelly stuff that seemed to be crowfood poured out in heaps. Ravens cawed above them startling Smudge. Strange drawings imprinted onto the alley sides. He squinted and looked back at Jua.
"I think you should come with me..." He said quietly.

Jua shrugged and nodded, only continuing on through the maze as if he lived here. Obviously by the way he walked he lived a much nicer life than this, but somehow he was no longer afraid of the place.
"Up ahead." He said almost silently. And then a muddy grey she-cat came into view, her gaze shockingly stoney and her voice such.
"Hello. What brings you boys here?"

Smudge wanted Jua to speak, but stepped forward anyway.
"I am Smudge. My mate Hattie disappeared from our nest not to long ago. I need to find her. Please." He said in a quiet desperation.

Livvi looked at Jua, and suddenly her eyes were filled with the same cloudy emotion that he had been seen with in the forest. But it vanished quickly as she tore her gaze from Jua to Smudge.
"Have you tried Millie? She's awfully nice, you know."

Smudge's brow furrowed. So Millie only left her bitter personality for the cats she meets in search of her help? Odd. It was better not to tell Livvi what happened.
"Yes. She couldn't help us." He lied, swallowing nervously.

"I can see the fear on your face. You dismissed her out of anger? I don't work with dismissive, aggressive toms." Livvi said rather royally, turning her nose up. Obviously she wouldn't help any ungrateful toms, so he'd have to prove his kindness. However, being rude to Millie wasn't a good start.

"And my dearest Millie is one of my closest. She would never mean to be purposefully rude to your friends. Why should I take such an inconsiderate tom to his love?" She challenged, her throne of old garbage cans and cardboard boxes shadowed mysteriously and giving it the appearance of darkness. Jua sighed and looked away, not wanting to look at Livvi any longer.
