The marsh was still. Puddles lay dormant and undisturbed in the dense dark. The moon was full, yet its light could not penetrate the rotting trees of Shadowclan. Mosquitoes hovered restlessly above the water, humming their quiet, droning song. A large figure sat still as stone infront of one of these puddles. He was gazing at his reflection, pondering his life. Young and reserved, Larkpaw had few friends. Life was hard for someone like him, and the fact that he was compassionate and sensitive to other's feelings surely did not help him to fit in any better in his clan. Sighing sadly, the shy tom wondered if he'd ever be happy. Sure, he was content. Fine with being an apprentice. Fine with the food he ate. Fine just going through the motions. But he wasn't happy. ShadowClan cats aren't ment to be happy, he thought gloomily. But the tom's romantic outlook on life gave him something he knew he shouldn't have. It gave him hope.

The cool, crisp night air was still and frozen in a strange silence around him. He could scarcely begin to realize why he was out, but he shrugged it off and kept walking. Why was he following that other apprentice anyway? Something about Larkpaw made him feel like he was looking into a mirror. Well, he wasn't. The two weren't alike. Right? He shrugged the thought off a second time and then continued on his way. Soft white paws splattered with wet mud, he soon spotted Larkpaw. Smiling, the snowy white tom slipped up in the vibrant moonlight and spoke softly so as not to startle Larkpaw. "Hey." Polarpaw said with a sigh, sitting down next to his fellow apprentice. "Why're you out?"

((I have Emberpaw, she's friendly, helpful, cheerfu and a bit clumsy))
Emberpaw stumbled through the territory. She nearly tripped on everything from sticks to her own paws. Her ears pricked as she heard voices. She scented Polarpaw and Larkpaw and raced towards them. As she neared the clearing her ginger foot caught a root. She stumbled into the clearing landing beside Larkpaw. Her amber eyes looked up at the handsome tom. "Hi" she mewed with a giggle.

Polarpaw rolled his eyes and shook his head, smiling. "Hey, Emberpaw." He said with a half-hearted grin. Then he turned back to Larkpaw, waiting for an answer to the question he had previously asked.

((Sure, she can be with Polarpaw))
She got to her paws and dusted herself off. The ginger she-cat stared at Polarpaw, grinning. "How are you?" she asked. He's really cute she thought.
((Aww, young love))

[[Sounds good. BTW, Polarpaw's an emotional jerk... xD And he's always changing moods. You should see him in Two Apprentices!]]
Polarpaw looked at Emberpaw and rolled his eyes. "Tired. What are you both doing up?" He asked, a little less than amused. They shouldn't be out here at all without permission, and he was a real stickler for the rules. It wasn't his favorite to go traipsing around the territory looking for depressional toms. But he had to admit, Emberpaw looked very pretty in the soft moonlight.

ooc; -feels out of place- Um, who was Larkpaw’s ‘mate’ again? xD I like the way these three look. We can form a fearsome threesome! x3 They’d be like best buddies all their lives and then grow together and all. Polarpaw could be the idealist and enthusiastic leader, Emberpaw can be the perky and pretty cat all toms want, and Larkpaw can be the dull but intellectual sidekick. Hehe, if you guys want to of course. ic; Larkpaw began feeling harassed by the many cats who began intruding his silent night. What the heck were they doing here? What did they want? Why were they talking to him? Wasn’t he supposed to be ignored by his clanmates and deemed to be lamentable and dejected for the rest of his life? Questions satiated his mind, questions with answers he wasn’t really interested. Now he just desired to flee, or at least to make them leave. His eyes narrowed suspiciously at Polarpaw and sensed the unpleasantness between them both. He barely knew the apprentice but he was sure he didn’t have the emotional maturity he had. Larkpaw induced in self-pity at the thought of being forced to have a conversation with this callow tom who was far from close as having the supremacy Larkpaw owned. He’d feel proud about himself but he was unable to. ShadowClanners were forbidden to feel any form of glee or happiness. He didn’t roll his eyes but his body language transmitted enough antipathy on it’s own. ‘I’m just wandering around’ Larkpaw answered as politely as he could, though not bothering to hide his exasperation. But when Emberpaw showed up so unexpectedly and with that peevish and disturbing giggle, Larkpaw couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Why, oh WHY were they tormenting him like this?! Their sole presence was enough to make the tom’s hair shiver. ‘Hi’ he said quietly, noticing at once it wasn’t necessary. Fairly enough, the she-cat was instantly amused by Polarpaw and began gawking at the young imbecile. Larkpaw smirked, aware of the fact that it wouldn’t be long before the two apprentices strolled away emitting the detestable and nauseating fragrance of lust and of being in love. The thought of never being able to enjoy that made Larkpaw more miserable than he already was but at least he’d get to muse about his anguish alone, once the two left. Or, were they planning to... stay?

Emberpaw just smiled at the two different toms. "Escaping the torment of Ravepaw and Smallpaw" she mewed "yet again." She hated being the outcast, she wasn't like the others, cold and mean, she was light hearted and cheery. "How about you?" she asked Polarpaw.
((I like that idea, the misfits of the clan. But of course Ember would be taken by Polar.))

ooc; yeah of course, but she'd be really good friends with Larkpaw anyway. Like siblings =] ic; Larkpaw's eyebrows arched. 'Who?' he asked impulsively, not being able to identify the names Emberpaw was referring to. He then realized it truly was a miracle he knew the names of these two. He barely knew his clanmates or their names and felt a bit silly for taking that bow of oblivion. Right when he was going to feel stupid he noticed neither Emberpaw or Polarpaw were leaving. They were just sitting there, staring at each other, which truly tantalized Larkpaw. Couldn't they stare at each other somewhere else? The chemistry between the two was very distresing. Go. Leave. Go. Farewell. Part. Bye. Take off. What are you waiting for? the tom thought with irritation.
Then Emberpaw's question ticked him off. She was asking Polarpaw what he was doing here but completely ignored Larkpaw. How rude, specially for a she-cat. Wasn't she supposed to be kind? Jeez. Larkpaw snorted slightly louder but kept admiring the moon in silence.

Shadepaw walked numbly through underbrush till he got where he was looking for. He been looking for the herb all day in which his Mentor, Bluefeather, told him to get. "I can smell it" he mumbled to himself in deep conentrainion to it. His mind was so wrapped around the one plant that he hadden noticed that he was now in the present of three of his fellow apprentices. There under the foot of Larkpaw laid his precious herb, wilted and smothered into the ground. He looked up with his sad eyes and blinked at the tom. He wasn't one to stand up for himself which is a reason he chose the path of healing. "Your on my..." he cut off as he felt his little courage slip away. 'he had warrior training, I pick flowers' he thought to himself

Emberpaw looked over at Larkpaw. What's in hios fur? she wondered. She was waiting for him to reply to Polarpaw's question. He was pretty anti-social. She turned to notice Shadepaw joining them. "Hello" she mewed. She noticed as he began to say something, her gaze travelled to beneath Polarpaw's paw. She nudged him over. "There you go" she mewed.

((Um, Larkpaw already replied to Polarpaw's question... Quote: ‘I’m just wandering around’ Larkpaw answered as politely as he could, though not bothering to hide his exasperation.)) Larkpaw idly noticed Shadepaw had arrived. He concealed a smile, realizing that at least he knew this apprentice's name. Larkpaw could tolerate Shadepaw more than the other apprentices that were here. Shadepaw had a position of loats of respect at his early age, whereareas the rest of them were still vaguely recognized until they fully became warriors. Larkpaw decided to be kind to the young tom and salute him, with the hope that perhaps he would get distracted by the tedious monotony of the two love birds on his side. 'Good evening Shadepaw' Larkpaw said and briefly dipped his head. 'What's that Emberpaw just gave you?'

Shadepaw blinked again, afraid of so many cats. He looked at Larkpaw "Poppyseeds" he asnwer abuntly as he was afraid. His paws shuffled over hard stones as he reach down for the herb. 'this isn't going to work' he thought sadly as the seed blew out in a dust. He knew more was around but he had been searching since dawn for it and was ready for a tiny break.

Larkpaw leaned down cautiously to smell them. 'That's nice' he replied, his tone less sardonic than before. His eyes softened when he saw the apprehension in Shadepaw's behaviour. 'What are they for?' He was morbidly curious and his voice was oddly... kind.

Emberpaw smiled at Shadepaw. He was so shy and a misfitish much like herself. She looked as the poppyseeds blew away. She felt bad for him. "Want some help?" she asked.
((How about Shadepaw as the fourth, the shy and helpful one))

Shadepaw looked around in hope to find more of the Poppyseeds but now were around. 'Bluefeather said they were common' he thought sadly at his little failure. "They are for calming down a cat and also takes away pain" he said in his soft mumbling voice. He looked over at Emberpaw with a fast movement as he hadn't noticed her, "I'm fine" he replied.

[[The Idealist and leader, me likey... xD Polarpaw won't be a very nice leader at first. He gets ticked off easy]]
Polarpaw felt his anger bubbling up. Too many pointless conversations. He shook his head, standing and stretching. "Whatever." He said as he walked away from the cats, taking his seat far from them in the distance/ He tried to let off steam, and a cool breeze rubbed his fur in all directions. With a sigh, he gazed silently at the moon.

Emberpaw listened to the coversation. She nodded to Shadepaw. Her amber eyes wandered to the handsome white tom. Polarpaw was really cute, Emberpaw liked him.

ooc; I really don't know what else to make Larkpaw say -cough- Emberpaw should start conversation -cough- And sure, Shadepaw can be the fourth :3 ic; Larkpaw noticed Polarpaw skimming away and felt a sense of accomplishment. Someone or something had irked the tom and he liked to think it had been Larkpaw himself. He smirked silently at himself before curtly nodding a farewell at Shadepaw (ignoring Emberpaw, of course) and moved far from them to keep lauding the moon. He felt oddly hypnotized as his eyes kept absorbing the thick and stark moonlight.
