It all began with a single cat. This cat was Rollingstorm, a loner taken in by ThunderClan. He fit perfectly into clan life as an excellent fighter and hunter, except for one thing. He would not, could not believe in StarClan. As Rollingstorm was pushed more and more to believe in the celestial warriors, he began to develop a hatred of them. One Leafbare, he confidently declared that all dreams from StarClan were hallucinations, that all belief in StarClan was a complex lie crafted by leaders and medicine cats. Surprisingly, Rollingstorm gained some support for this opinion, mostly from cats in the Clan who had lost loved ones and were upset that only Medicine Cats and Leaders could speak to StarClan. The quickly declared that StarClan was a lie, an excuse for other cats to come to power.
When the greencough came and many cats of ThunderClan died, Rollingstorm claimed that StarClan would not allow such a thing to happen, and that Medicine Cats, in their lust for power, had not protected the clans.
This idea slowly seeped through the clans, dripping poison into the wounds left by cats who had died, and soon many clans had two factions. After all, why should only leaders and medicine cats be visited by StarClan? Why could the typical warriors not speak with lost loved ones? StarClan must be a lie, cleverly crafted to bring the leaders above the rest of the cats. By day, cats cooperated with each other. By night, the rebels met and plotted on how to bring down the power-hungry leaders, deputies, and medicine cats.
The leaders quickly realized the developing problem.
