Foalan shook her head. "Get me some betony! Honey! Now. Despair, I've got this. Go fetch the herbs." Foalan said as she began to unravel the cobweb quickly and apply it skillfully. "No cat deserves death, Chaos. I don't like what you did, but I can't let an innocent she-cat die. I'm not that shallow." Foalan said as she finished off the marigold poultice and cobwebs, waiting for the herbs.

Chaos looked up at her and laughed softly, despite the pain. Innocent. As if.
"My brother is fetching some. I will see if there are some proper herbs in the Healer's den, though." She meowed, dipping her head. Her eyes were emotionless but she didn't care. She padded to the den and found some betony, but the honey was old and hard. She carried the former herbs to Foalan and gently set them beside her, backing off to let the she-cat work.

Foalan sighed. She'd have to do without the honey, then. It would make swallowing easier, but Chaos was a strong cat. "I know, innocent is too subtle a word. How about cruel, shallow, and dark? But I'm still too nice to let you die." Foalan said with a sigh. "After all, you're my brother's sister. And you're what kept us together. Otherwise he'd have been with another she-cat, named Sparkheart. I thank you for that." Foalan added, crushing up some betony and chewing it until it was soft. She spat it out onto her paws and offered it to Chaos. "Take this." She said.

Chaos eyed her and then warily chewed the herbs. It was painful to swallow, and then stuck in her throat a few times, but she managed it without much fuss. She sat staring out into nothing, her eyes misted over.
"I guess he never does learn." She murmured, and the sorrow in her voice was somewhat uncharacteristic of her. Despair looked at her keenly and then continued sorting through the herbs her brother Lethal had brought. Chaos looked up at Foalan and narrowed her eyes.
"But now I owe you my life, I suppose. I am in your debt, and if I am anything, I am a cat of my word... in some ways." She chuckled dryly, coughing a little blood. She looked up at Foalan and nodded. "So if you need anything. I can..." She sighed and flattened her ears, looking off with a hard glare, "I can... show you where I put your kits." She muttered. Despair looked at the two and then turned to see Desolate leading Renegade from Whisper's den. The tom's tail dragged in the dust and he seemed worn out. Desolate nodded to her and stopped. Renegade sat down obediently, staring at his sister coldly.
"Your mate saved her." Despair noted. He looked at Despair with his fiery gaze, then turned to Foalan. He said nothing. He knew she was a kind cat, but he also knew she didn't have any idea what his sister had done.
"This wouldn't be the first time, Chaos. Whisper has given me instructions never to harm any cat here again unless she tells me to. So I won't kill you. But I'll find some way to make you suffer. Just as my kits suffered because of you. Just as Foalan suffered. Just as your very own kits suffered." He growled. Chaos jerked at the mention of her kits, but remained still after the pain seared her. She glared at him with death in her eyes.
"Never mention them again, you idiotic..." She growled, cursing him. He stared at his sister coldly.
"Why shouldn't I? Shouldn't all of SilenceClan know your cold, murderous deeds? I'm sure few of them can boast killing their own flesh and blood, the kits they birthed themselves." Renegade sneared. Chaos glared at him and spat.
"Shut up, stupid moron! I know they're dead, and now your kits are, too! There are no Salinka, no "Chosen", no prophecy!" She yowled.
"That's where you're wrong." He growled. Chaos's eyes widened.
"Gaara's kits..." A slow smile spread aross Renegade's face. Chaos seemed angry, and then she smiled and leaned back.
"Then they'll be the next to go." She muttered, turning away.

Foalan watched in confusion as the two bickered about something or other. No matter. She sighed, wondering what to do next. "Chaos, tell us where the kits are. And then we'll go. But stop talking, or you'll damage your vocal cords." Foalan said strictly. She wished that Renegade would be a little nicer to his sister. After all, everyone made mistakes. It wasn't his fault his sister was worse off than the rest. Pain and darkness is only fear. Foalan reminded herself with a sigh. She looked over to see Despair sorting herbs and nodded. She'd fetch her kits soon enough.

Chaos looked up at Foalan with narrowed eyes.
"I left them in the middle of a small Thunderpath, beside a dying Ash tree... near the ShadowClan border." She meowed. "There's a possibility they could have escaped the path in time." She yawned, and then settled her muzzle on her paws.

Foalan nodded, looking at her mate. "We need to get over to the Thunderpath. Follow me. Despair, watch her." Foalan took off like a rocket, not bothering to see if Renegade would follow. He would.

Despair watched Renegade bolt after his mate, then turned to Chaos. Her eyes glinted and she sighed.
"You truly are despicable, Chaos. But you have a heart, at least. A small one, but it's there." She murmured, pressing on some more poultice. Her small knowledge of herbs could sometimes come in handy. That's what originally attracted him to her. She shuddered, not wanting to think about it any longer.
"Hmph. No cat is born heartless." Chaos muttered.
"You're pretty close to it, though." Lethal growled, ignoring his sister's look. Chaos coughed and sighed.
"Yeah... well, I figure it doesn't matter any longer. My destiny's carved out for me, whether I like it or not." She sighed, closing her eyes. Despair nodded slightly as she fell asleep.
"There's one twisted cat for you." She murmured. Lethal looked down at Chaos and nodded.
"Yeah. But there's something wierd about her. Did you see her face when Renegade mentioned her kits? She was angry, yes... but I think that anger was just hiding what she was really feeling..." He murmured. Despair nodded and looked at Chaos intently.
"Fear. Love. Pain. Regret." She whispered.

Foalan's paws ached with running as she continued. But she already knew it was hopeless. She had two thoughts on her mind. Well, really four. But two separate thoughts. One was her kits. Were they okay? Was Rebel okay? Was Ivy okay? Was Barley okay? Then there was the other question that burned in her mind. The Clan needed a Medicine Cat. She knew herbs as well as anything. She could be a valuable addition to the Clan in a way, because she knew how to heal and how to be helpful. But did she want to do that?
She smelled the Thunderpath before she heard it, and heard it before she saw it. As she came to it, she noticed monsters came by every few seconds. It was very busy as the light of day turned the sky an ugly grey, almost as if in mourn for the kits. SHe saw nothing on the road, though. No crushed bodies or broken souls. Maybe they were okay after all? She turned to look at her mate, fear and worry thick on her soft face. "Where are they?" She asked in a voice that in comparison to the monsters was only a whisper.

Renegade looked out at the Thunderpath and scented the air. The harsh tang of the monsters was too strong, though. He felt his body shake with rage and the pain of loss.
"T-they're gone... they must have escaped the Thunderpath. Into either ShadowClan or ThunderClan territory, probably." He meowed, trembling a little. Or Twolegplace... He thought.

Foalan nodded and sighed softly as another monster rushes by, sweeping her fur the wrong way and causing her to shrink back as it kicked up some foul water. "Then another cat will find them and they will be safe." She said, her voice tainted with defeat. She knew there was no way to get across the Thunderpath safely now. Besides, by the time they could they probably would have been found already. She looked sadly up at her mate. At least they weren't dead.

Renegade looked across and sighed, bowing his head sadly. He looked at Foalan and then nuzzled her gently.
"I'm so sorry, love. I wish I could erase all of this..." He meowed sadly.

Foalan breathed in her mate's sweet scent for a moment longer. They couldn't erase it, but they could have faith that their little ones were alright. Maybe they'd become great in the paws of whoever cared for them. She had to think positively. Not all hope was lost. "Renengade..." Foalan began uneasily. "Our Clan needs a Medic. I know herbs and remedies. I studied that after my mother abandoned me. I could help..." She asked it in a way that made it seem less of a question and more of an open suggestion.

Renegade looked at her and blinked, startled. He remembered her treating Chaos and nodded slowly.
"If that's what you want to do." He murmured.

Foalan nodded, looking one last time at the Thunderpath as she sorrowfully pulled herself away. She began to head back to the camp, tail dragging and paws slow. Her kits were gone. It was any mother's worst nightmare and it had happened to her. And she had saved Chaos, too. "Let's go." She said sadly as it all hit her like a wave.

Renegade nodded and followed, feeling grief crashing on him as he left his kits behind.
